will fog auto wipe hard drive before it deploys image ?
The desktops/laptops that we use have OEM image and comes with different size hard drives. some even have SSD’s. will there be a issue when deploying an image ? I have created Single disk re sizable image that i captured from VM.

No it destroys the partition tables, but the actual contents of the partitions are still intact until the image has been pushed to the target computer. Any extra disk space on the drive (larger than the source image) will contain content from the previous image. You won’t be able to access this “extra” information under normal circumstances. You might use forensic software to recover some information in this “extra” space. If you need this information wiped for DoD requirements then you need to make a before imaging disk wipe part of your imaging process.

It won’t be an issue as long as the target disk size is larger than the data size of the captured image. For example if your capture image size is 100GB you can’t deploy that to a disk that is 99GB in size. If your captured image size is 25GB you can deploy that to any target disk bigger than 25GB. As part of my imaging process my reference image is created on a VM then deployed to physical target computers. I don’t have any issues with this method.

I created image on 50GB VM. when it was being captured i noticed the overall size of file was about 18 GB.

so when you say FOG only destroys Partition table but leaves content will it cause any issue to newly deployed windows image ? i just want it to work as if it was originally installed.

No it will not cause any issues unless you have a regulatory requirement that the disk be DoD wiped (erasing all previous content).

No we do not have any requirement. we just want computers to work as normal with our modified image.

Thank you for quick response. Please mark this as answered.
