Click by click upgrade guide?
-
Hello,
I “inherited” a dedicated Ubuntu Server with FOG 1.2.0. For various reasons I now want to upgrade to the latest stable FOG version.
Being an absolute Linux/Ubuntu newbie I am looking for an easy to follow click by click upgrade guide including all the necessary steps command line commands.
Are there possible problems I should be aware of?Please help:)
Kind regards
Alex

I would recommend that you NOT upgrade fog 1.2.0 to the latest release of fog. But in stead spin up a new FOG server. My bet the linux OS that fog 1.2.0 is nearing not being supported by the linux distro as well as there has been 1000s of changes to the code base since 1.2.0 and 1.5.5. The upgrade should work, but your OS is probably old and there is always a risk of the upgrade failing and then you not having a FOG server while the bits are being reassembled.
Wayne did a pretty great job with the how to step by step to install fog on centos linux: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=CentOS_7
Here is more general guide: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Installation

@deckerta As well you might want to check out this wiki article: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Migrate_FOG
It’s all not a click by click thing but I’d say you can learn a lot of things if you are keen to. We’ll definitely help you. Just ask specific questions, post error messages and we sure will be able to guide you the way.
