Slow deploy & upload speeds.

Hello all…
I recently setup a Fog 0.32 server on one partition on an Ubuntu box. Its an HP DC50880 with 4 gigs RAM and a 1TB disk, with gigbit ethernet.
Switches are gigabit in between and all cables are cAT6
Everything actually works as intended with respect to uploading new images and restoring images, however its very slow…
What i normally do is i purchase a bunch oh HP machines the DC 6200 in this case, i setup the machine like i want it, run the fog prep. Of course before hand i created the image(multi patition and single disk) for Win 7 named it and so on… then i set the task to upload , reboot and all works as advertised.
My total image size is the 100 megs for Win7 system partition and then about 10 gigs for the C partition.
The upload starts very fast at 5 Gib/min and after it reaches 20% it slow to 800Mib/min in the end it takes about 2.5 hours to 3 hours to either upload or download the image!
I just got 20 new employees and i need to be able to do this a bit quicker than that…
Is there any more info anyone would need to help me out or anything else i should be looking at?

Just a note to add, currently i am running an upload, i wanted to see if it would make a difference removing the HP recovery partition to speed stuff up, it has a bit, but wondering if i only have 10 to 12 gigs of data on the hard drive why does it currently say at 38% done 70 gigs or 178gigs??
I can take screens shots or anything else if it would help

What kind of image type did you specify for your image? It sounds like it defaulted to RAW which is why you are seeing the 70+ Gigs being transferred.

Also, are you trying to multicast the image? I’ve noticed poor performance at times when trying to multicast. Otherwise, I find that somewhere there is a 10/100 switch cause the slow speeds. From what I can tell, if a device Max’s at 800-1000 MB/min, it’s on a 10/100 switch. But FOG relies heavily on the hard drive caching/speeds for performance, I don’t know the HP’s all that well, hopefully they are running SATA drives

I have it set for "Multiple Partition image - Single Disk (not re sizable) under image type.
These HP machines are not that old server is about 3 years old, sata 2 dive in there… machine i am imaging is brand new HP DC6200
I am not sure where i can tell if i am multicasting or not??
Where would i look?

Hi Rob,
Multicasting does not start on its own. By default if you deploy an image to a group of machines it will unicast. To multicast you will have to go to to “Task Management” and search a group of hosts and there will be a double arrow icon next to the group name that you can click to multicast.
