iPXE - TFTP timeout
-
Centos 7, fog 1.5.4
I’m having a TFTP timeout issue with a number of my HP elitebook 840 G1 and G2, but the G4 are working with my new fog server.
Ubuntu 16.04 fog 1.4.4, my old environment, doesn’t have this issue with these models.
I tried a different kernel and updating the bios, but no luck.
Any idea what I did wrong?
Thanks. -
The first thing I noticed is that you have two different dhcp servers responding to the clients. These clients are also on two different subnets.
Where (subnet wise) is your fog server in relations to these two subnets?
Are there any firewalls between your subnets that might be blocking tftp traffic?

Yes, it appears there’s something not 100% with my development vlan. Though why the one model, the first one I tired, worked is still a head scratcher.

@ablohowiak Do you have 2 dhcp servers setup in a fail over configuration? i.e. what are 10.130.0.125 and 10.130.0.126?
If I had to guess I would say you DO have 2 dhcp server in failover configuration but not both of them have the proper dhcp settings configured. I would look at 10.130.0.126 first to understand what is wrong.
If you can’t find the answer we can use wireshark to understand why the client is not working. But looking at dhcp server settings is quicker and easier to find.

The PXE works in our production network.

@ablohowiak What is serving DHCP in your environment. Can you provide config information so we can have a look to see what’s wrong?

I was able to correct the issue.

@ablohowiak Can you please let us know what the issue was? Others might find this information helpful as well.
