Starting init: /sbin/init exists but couldn't execute it (error -8)

Not sure what is causing this error. I recently installed FOG 1.5.2 on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Server in Vmware. I migrated the images and db from version 1.4.4 using the Wiki page link text
All seemed fined till I try to but a client off iPXE. The client boots iPXE I see the FOG Project screen but when I try to select Inventory or Deploy Image I receive the error “Starting init: /sbin/init exists but couldn’t execute it (error -8)”
Any ideas?

@McLovin Although this might sound strange, could be faulty RAM?! https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/linux.debian.user/UNuVr-xl82s
Have you tried difference clients yet?
@Tom-Elliott You got any idea if that could be an issue with the inits being brocken?

@sebastian-roth I’m not aware of any issues. I suppose the working branch could be but 1.5.2 and sooner should be fine.

I am having the same issue but with 1.5.0 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I was having an issue with storage locations first after upgrading from 1.4.4 but I think I resolved that issue (the upgrade reset the locations to default) but now I get the message listed above. I tried upgrading to 1.5.2 but never got the option to update the database schema and couldn’t log into the management console after updating so I restored from a snapshot. Any ideas?

@sebastian-roth I just started getting this too on Ubuntu 16.04
I am running the clients in KVM VMs and so it should not be hardware.
I already set Ubuntu not to do the auto-update but perhaps missed something here.

I’m going to gues this is happening with kernel version 4.16.6? I ask because I found earlier the kernel architectures were backward. I’ve corrected this on the server, so you should be able to redownload the kernels and have success.
