Lenovo X1 Tablet hang on init.xz.... OK
-
Im trying to image Lenovo X1 Tablet over PXE, I can boot into the fog menu but after I choose something it starts the loading process and gets to init.xz… OK then hangs on a black screen.
The UEFI is off on the X1 and im using the ipxe.efi Bootfile. I can image other systems fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@pkt What kind of (USB?) network adapter do you use? Please boot your tablet into windows, and take a look at the device IDs shown in the device manager view… Here is an example of how this looks like:

Its the Lonovo USB to Ethernet adaptor I’ve used it on multiple Lenovo X1 Laptops, Lenovo p51s and, Lenovo Miix 510 Tablet without issues. And even on this X1 Tablet I can boot into the fog Menu fine its just after it loads the init.xz that it hangs.

@pkt said in Lenovo X1 Tablet hang on init.xz.... OK:

Can you add clarity around this statement? Can we assume you mean that secure boot is off and I’m using the ipxe.efi… ??
And just for clarity what version of FOG are you using and what version is the kernel you are using (bzImage)?

Sure,
FOG: Running Version 1.4.4 SVN Revision: 6077
Kernal: 4.11.6
DHCP 067 Bootfile Name: ipxe.efiYes, secure boot is off in the BIOS on the tablet.

Yes, secure boot is off in the BIOS on the tablet.See here is where we keep seeing a conflict. You are saying BIOS and ipxe.efi in the same context.
The issue is the target computers need the proper ipxe kernel for the firmware mode.
For BIOS (legacy) configured systems you must use undionly.kpxe class images.
For UEFI configured systems you must use ipxe.efi class images.
