    • RE: Lenovo x1 Gen 4 - NVMe with GPT partition

@Tom-Elliott @george1421 you guys been a world of help and I just want to help back anyways I can with what I got.

So it is all good, I got the USB FOS disk working, but no need. All I had to do was use the OneLine+ Ethernet adapter and it resolved all my issues. I was able to capture and deploy images with in 2~5 mins. This X1 Gen 4 was a big headache but this PCIE 3.0 x4 SSD should be worth it… I hope.

@george1421 one last questions, if I got the folder in /images

      example

      Server1: /images/window7

Copy that directory and export the image (image.csv), then Paste that file to Server2

      Server2: /images/window7

and import that image.csv this should work?

Ahhhh, thanks @george1421 worked like a charm.

Kind of a side question but is there any tutorial links on Snapin?

    • RE: Windows 10 Imaging, first images works great, then fails every other image

@Quazz Actually on the new Gen 4 there isn’t to many bloatware and “management” tools.

But I will actually look at building a native windows 10 enterprise 1607 iso.

      Description

I created another FOG server and would like to know how to copy images from one server to another. I tried the terminal command

      server1$ scp -r /images server2_IP:/
      I don’t get any errors.

      server2$ touch /images/{.mntcheck,dev/.mntcheck}
      server2$ chmod 777 -R /images/

      no error messages.

Then I go to server2 and log into fog and go to “Image Management” I don’t see anything. However, if I go to /images I do see the directory and files. Am I missing a step?

I also attempted to create an image in “Image Management” and map the path that is in “/images/image_name”, and I still get nothing in the FOG.

So I took a different approch, I reinstalled the OS and didn’t update windows 10 to 1607 and left it at 15** (something) and now I have deployed and tested the image 6 times now (granted on two machines only, will need to get my hands on a few more to be sure)

But it may have been the actually image is self after deploying, windows setup would just fail… “say la vie”

      Description

So I syspreped a lenovo machine with windows 10, ran updates, installed Apps and made a simple Unattend File.

And before any images capture or deploy, I just sysprep (generalize and OOBE with unattend.xml) and allowed the machine to reboot, and it boots up perfectly!!!

Next step, reinstalled system and repeated the step above but this time I capture the image and deploy that images to a different machine as well as the same machine. Both Machines works perfectly…

Then redeployed the same image to the same machines again to test consistency and now I get the " 😞 Your PC Ran into a problem and needs to restart" and this loop repeats itself

Anyone have any ideas one what or where I can start investigating this issue? I just can’t fathom why the image would work then fail when reimagine the same machine.

    • RE: Lenovo x1 Gen 4 - NVMe with GPT partition

      Hi @george1421,

So I think i figured it out, after creating the USB disk, before even using the FOS disk I went to test to make sure the problem still exists from yesterday.

Turns out… The USB Ethernet adapter was the problem. Its not so much it doesn’t work, it has to do with something with the MAC ID on the USB Ethernet adapter.

I’ve notice since day lets say M1 uses the usb ethernet adapter (by lenovo) and gets the MAC id, say MAC_1
then plug the same adapter into machine 2 (M2) fog will see it as only one host.

So the lesson here is… keep track of your usb ethernet adapters that have MAC ADDR on them. Lenovo has created different Ethernet adapters that don’t have Mac IDs on them.

Now the problem is after I select “Perform Full Registration” I get a black screen. Would this be Kernel related?
