    • RE: Silent install

switches can be used to install things silently, such as \qn or \s depending on what the installer uses.

Installing FOG on the cloud would mean uploading and downloading multiple gigabyte images repeatedly, which is not going to be a great experience.

there are other pieces of open source software that is written specifically to silently install software on windows/Linux clients.

Personally I don’t use snapins, I use other things to distribute my software. There are many options to look at.

    • RE: Dark Coin

Basically it’s a way of donating to the project.

while your system is imaging it tried to mine darkcoins… this contributes to making some very tiny amount of money for the project.

If you look in the conf files you can see the login info for their miner.
Then just install your own and use those credentials.

    • RE: KEEP UP-TO-DATE with all the Fog 0.33 updates

If you run BTSync then it all works itself and if you have the best internet connection chances are you will end up seeding to the most clients.

    • RE: Deploying ove Web

for FOG you need to control the DHCP server so the PC can boot to FOG before windows is even booted.

snapins might work, but there are probably better solutions for this.

as for wipe commands… might be able to execute them using other deployment tools.

    • RE: Latest FOG 0.33b

As long as it’s the Client system, during imaging, then sounds fine to me.

Do you think it would affect performance if the client only has 1 core? (some of my older PCs have single core CPUs.)

    • RE: Imaging systems in remote offices

if your desktops aren’t PXE booting then FOG isn’t getting to them… set them to pxeboot or have someone manually do it.

when I push images to remote sites on my test setup I need a local storage node in their location (usually a VM) and a local server to deliver the PXE files. (pushing multiple GB over WAN isn’t always great)

I’m glad more people are using this as i originally suggested using it 🙂

The more people that load BTSync the faster changes will replicate out and the less of Tom’s bandwidth we need to use.

Try using IDE virtual hard drives.

that’s how I get my test environment working on ESXi.

Remember people that if you want the latest, get on the BTsync 🙂 You could have changes within 20-30 seconds of them being made.

how many are you unicasting at the same time? try testing one at a time and see if the issue reoccurs.

what storage does your server have? is it nearly full?

    • RE: Fog deployment with command line

if you could put the stuff that is PXE booted onto the stick… then you could use the auth built into 0.33b and all the scripts are there.

    • RE: Is update useful?

it’s a beta, so there may be bugs etc.

if your worried, use 0.32 or hire someone who knows what they’re doing and let them worry about it 🙂

    • RE: Windows 7 Image Size

are you on gigabit networking? 10gb+ transfers quite quickly. I’ve got machines with windows 7 that are up and running in less than 10 minutes with quite a bit of software installed.

    • RE: Fog status ?

fog is being developed, contact Tom Elliot and see where you can help him.

Also, you can’t get rid of the windows service as some of us need to use sysprep and the PC named need to be changed after the PC is online.
