    • RE: Combining FOG servers?
      1. šŸ˜ž – may have to reconsider my plans
      2. Not a problem

The two subnets are configured so traffic is only one-way (staff on one, guests on the other; staff can get to guests, but not other way around). At present, the new FOG server can be pinged from each subnet, but only to the IP address which is in the same subnet.

    • Combining FOG servers?

I’ve been running two virtual FOG servers on two separate subnets (under WinServ2012R2) and have been very happy with it. But I’d prefer to run just one physical server with two NICs.

      Is it possible?

If yes, how can I add the second NIC to the FOG server?

Are there any issues I need to consider? (I know I’ll have to choose one domain for my AD default.)

    • FogPrep.exe creating problem with System Restore settings

When I run FogPrep.exe on a Win7x64 PC and reboot it (with or without uploading an image), the ā€˜Protection Settings’ on the ā€˜System Protection’ tab of the 'System Properties dialog box changes ā€˜Local Disk (C:) (System)’ to ā€˜Off’ and adds an entry of ā€˜(C:) (Missing)’ to ā€˜On’. When an image is created after running FogPrep, this setting is saved to the image and placed on imaged PCs. Any PC with these settings generates System Restore errors (Event ID 8193) and suffers performance issues, even to the point of applications hanging.

      Any solutions?

    • RE: Database Schema Installer / Updater - failed

MySQL for Ubuntu – but doesn’t FOG launch it automatically?

Anyway, I started it, tried the update, got another error. Did a restart on mysql, tried the update again, and got a message that everything was already up-to-date. Odd.

Anyway, up and going again. Thanks for the quick response.

    • Database Schema Installer / Updater - failed

This morning, when I tried to log in to the FOG server from my browser, I was redirected to a page titled ā€˜Database Schema Installer / Updater’ which included a button titled ā€˜Install/Upgrade Now’. I clicked on the button and immediately got a page which said ā€˜Update/Install Failed!’ with a long list of errors (saved as text file and attached).

I can’t get past these screens.

    • RE: Fog not changing Windows 7 PC to join Domain after Image

      YES!
I had not realised I needed to copy the encrypted output string from FOGCrypt.exe to the web-based UI. It joined the domain after a few seconds of sitting at the login screen without intervention.

Thank you SO MUCH for the responsiveness and help. You guys rock. It looks like I’m going to trash the Acronis Snap Deploy. So far, FOG is better.

    • RE: Fog not changing Windows 7 PC to join Domain after Image

I removed the FOG client from the source and then installed it directly from fogserver. Also ran FOG Prep directly from fogserver, then reloaded the image to server.
I reimaged the target from the new image and in the log file (see line 62) ā€˜AD mode requested, confirming settings’, but the next line is ā€˜Could not find any recognizable digits’. It is attached.fog.log

      fog.log
I waited a moderate amount of time after doing another imaging of the target before copying fog.log – this has the ā€˜Hello FOG Client’.

The target is able to ping the FOG server by IP address, but not resolving name.

fog.log Here’s the log. No ā€˜hello fog client’. I’m guessing line 4 is the key, but don’t know what it means.

    • RE: Fog not changing Windows 7 PC to join Domain after Image

I just uninstalled the FOG Service from the source PC and reinstalled it specifying the IP address of the FOG server. I then redid the image and applied it to the target. The target was not joined to the domain, even after rebooting it once. I rebooted again and lost contact with it for some reason. (Using remote connection so can’t do anything more with it right now.)

If we are taking about the process of installing the client, above the list of modules where it says ā€˜What is the IP address or host name of the FOG Web Server? (Blank for default ā€œfogserverā€)’, I left it blank because the name of the Ubuntu server is fogserver.

@Wayne-Workman I did not get a prompt for an IP address (but had already registered the target PC at the FOG menu).

@Wayne-Workman I copied and extracted the FogService and FogPrep to a Win file server and installed it from there.

    • RE: Fog not changing Windows 7 PC to join Domain after Image

I’m having the same problem. I can get around it using NETDOM from the DC, but it would save time if Fog could do this.

In the target’s C:\fog.log there is no ā€˜Hello fog client’, but after logging in, I can see the Fog client is running.

In the host management area of the Fog server, at the AD section, I have the FQDN, a blank for the OU, ā€˜administrator’ for the Domain User Name, and the correct password toggled to show dots. I don’t know how to use FOGCrypt.

In the Service Settings section, everything is checked.

I’m running Ubuntu Server 14.04.3 (with Lubuntu Desktop for now), Fog version 1.2.0. The target is an Optiplex 760.

      I’d appreciate any help.
