Thanks @Wayne-Workman I may be missing the concept here - apologies. When I ignore the mac then I am unable to register the new host. Do I need to manually register the WiFi mac so that it is picked up when booted?

Hi,
I am currently running into the issue of USB Nics passing duplicate mac addresses to laptops.
I saw a potential solution discussed here: https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/5743/sharing-nics-between-laptops/8 using the WiFi macs.
Is this still the best practice at present or has there been any further developments? If we are registering them with their WiFi Macs how would Fog know which image to deploy when connected back up with the USB nic?
Running Fog 7492 and it is brilliant.
Thanks,
Tom
@Tom-Elliott That’s exactly what I needed thanks Tom.
Hi,
When using quick registration the PC numbers currently ascend PC1 PC2 PC3. Is there a way to keep the numbers the same length so that the numbers would be 001, 002, 003? If I use PC00* I assume that when it gets to 10 I will get PC0010 whereas 010, 011 etc would be ideal.
Certainly not needed would just be nice!
Thanks,
Tom
Hi, apologies the bios on the laptop needed flashing to allow the adapter to function. We now have Inspiron’s booting to the fog menu - what a pretty sight!
Thank you for your guidance, brilliant as always.

I now get the option for a nic usb boot, however when I boot into it I am presented with this screen that just blinks and hangs.

Can you identify what I am missing?
@Tom-Elliott Failing Geoge’s advice I will do, thanks Tom.
@george1421 Thanks George I have one coming tomorrow so I will test and let you know.
Hi,
Running FOG 7492 on CentOS.
I am currently looking at imaging some of our Inspiron 13 laptops by booting them to USB.
I have followed the instructions here: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=USB_Bootable_Media
Unfortunately the laptop is not booting and I fear it may be that I do not have the correct drivers within the bootable media.
The Inspirons have Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 network cards, could any point me in the right direction of how to add these in?
Much appreciated as always guys, let me know if you need anymore info.
Thanks,
Tom
Thanks for the explanation - much appreciated Wayne.
I will take a look.

Hi,
I am running quick registration. Associating my PCs with a group and image. I have set the active directory defaults within the group however the newly registered Pcs are not joining the domain or having their hostname changed after the imaging task.
Is it possible for this all to be achieved from a quick registration?
Let me know if you need any more information.
Thanks!
Tom
Thanks Wayne really useful to know.

Tom
Hi all,
Running Fog 7492 on CentOS.
I am new to snap-ins and have a few questions - hope you don’t mind.
I have an offline windows updater that is a collection of files that I have used SFX to create an exe for. I have manually run the EXE just to test it works which it does however it only works if the exe is run as an administrator. Will FOG run as admin with snapins?
I am also not seeing any entry in the Fog log relating to snapins. Nothing saying they have failed but also not saying they have even been attempted. Should I be seeing an entry regardless?
Thanks all for your great support,
Tom
Hi Wayne,
The NFS Server Service was stopped for whatever reason.
Just in case anyone stumbles across this.
I checked it with: systemctl status nfs-server
Started it with: systemctl start nfs-server
Then set it to always auto-start after boot with: systemctl enable nfs-server
Picked up off another thread which I should have read first!
Thanks for your help much appreciated.
Regards,
Tom
Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the suggestion. The dev directory is still there. I think I may be looking at rebuilding the Fog Server to remedy this one.

Tom
Hi,
I hope you can help me.
I am running Fog 7492 on CentOS and absolutely love it.
I recently noticed that after deleting images from the Web UI the storage was not increasing. I had not been going into the image and ticking the ‘delete files’ option - my mistake.
In an attempt to clear up after myself I went into the /images directory, into the folders that have the images’ name and rm’ed the contents of the folders of the images I no longer required.
On attempting to image a machine I now get 'An error has been detected, could not mount images folder (/bin/fog.upload).
I have created a fresh image and tried to associate the same host with it, with the same results.
Are there any suggestions you may have as to what I have done to upset Foggy?
Let me know if you need any more information.
Your help as always is much appreciated,
Thanks,
Tom

@TomBagley This will most likely be due to the dhcp leases that are handed out allowing the other DHCP server to reach it before FOG has a chance.
My networking manager has explained that the Fog Server and clients are on a Vlan completely separate from the rest of the network. Could this still be interfering?
Thanks Quazz,
TomDepends on if the totally seperated vlan is being served DHCP or not.
That’s done it - solved! Thank you ever so much! Time to slap my network manager for not blocking the DHCP
Have a nice evening guys.
