So I am running 1.1.1 and I am imaging Windows 8.1 machines from Dell. The computers are all OEM and I have not changed anything except turing Secure boot off and enable legacy boot to get it to boot. Everything works perfectly, uploading, deploying registration etc. The only issue I have is when it is done deploying, Windows says startup needs to be fixed. I can run the bootsec commands and it works. But is there a way I can deploy without having to fix the boot on every machine?

RE: Looking for Hard Drives ... Then Freeze
No such thing as a dumb question.
You run it on the client you are trying to image.
I am having this same issue.
I went into the fog compatibility menu and I get a parted prompt, with a message that says Warning /dev/sda contains GPT signatures…etc…but I am getting invalid tokens when I try to type anything in. This does make sense reading through the post. But this drive was OEM from Dell, why would it have this issue?

RE: Looking for Hard Drives ... Then Freeze
So I found the solution to this issue. I had installed Windows 7 on a machine that formerly was a Ubuntu Box. I tried to use Clonezilla - which identified the issue. I won’t pretend I knew what was going on so here is what they said about it:
You might have installed an OS with GPT partition table, and later overwrite the disk by installing another OS with MBR partition table. The MBR partition table editor, e.g. fdisk, sfdisk, or cdisk does not know GPT, so it overwrite part of the GPT partition table, but did not clean the rest completely. Therefore that’s why you got such a message.
If you are sure your running OS is using MBR partition table, not GPT one, you can run
sudo sgdisk -z /dev/sdxThe box I was trying to image was formerly an Ubuntu box, which I installed Windows 7 on. I did delete the partitions, but apparently that didn’t matter.
This worked. Just thought I’d include this for posterity. Thankfully now that this is out of the way hopefully I can put the FOG server I’ve (and the excellent guys who support FOG) invested so much time into to good use.
This may sound like a dumb question, but where do you run that command? On the fog server?

Nope, still broken. I cannot wrap my head around why this isn’t working.

RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
Windows 8/8.1 UEFI/GPT Imaging and FOG 0.33, for now, requirements to successfully image upload or download are:
1.) Disable secure boot. (Truly disable it. Some motherboards will report it as disabled, but not actually disable it, so to verify, try booting to an EFI Shell if possible. Usually this can be done through the bios as well.)
2.) Perform Image task (upload or download).
3.) Re-enable Secure boot.
I did all of that. Just to be sure, I am doing a re-image of one of the machines that failed over the weekend.

RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
I might actually have an issue. I am getting no boot device found upon reboot. Win 8 image. I feel like I saw this somewhere, but cannot remember where. Any other information?

RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
Well I am completely up and running! Thank you guys so much for your patience and support!
-
RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
Well that is working wonderfully. Thank you Travis! Now I just have to find the right one that will work for me. o_O

RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
Hmm ok. Well I suppose I could try pulling a raw image then. Otherwise I am sitting dead in the water.

RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
Added my DNS servers into interfaces. Wow I feel dumb. Now, when I try to download and Unofficial Kernel it tells me:
Error: Download failed: filesize = 0 -
RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
Hmm, no. It just sits there loading but never displays the info.

RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
Wel that made it worse. I downloaded Tom’s latest kernel and now I get:
ipxe Error: Exec format error Error code 2e0080)Tom, do you have a list of previous revisions of the kernel? Also, when I go to kernel updates in my server, nothing populates on the list, neither Published Kernels, nor Unofficial Kernels. Any reason for this?

RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
Well almost, now I can get the client to upload, but it is reading the partitions as Raw. I have the image set to Multiple Partition Image Single Disk Not Resizeable. Also I am using the 3.14.0.TomElliott 64 bit kernel. I also tried chaning the image manager to PartImage and PartClone and they both read the partitions as Raw.

RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
Well I switched out pxelinux.0 with undionly.kpxe in the dhcp server and it worked!

RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
We are running a RHEL DHCP server.
Also, just disabled firewall, and still nothing. -
RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
Alright well I opted for a fresh install. I am now running 13.04, with Fog 0.33b (rc1). Everything seems to be up and running fine. I followed the wiki and updated the settings after install. Now I get a TFTP error File not Found.

RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
Thanks Tom. And Travis. I will see what I can come up with. I will report back with what I get.

RE: Windows 8 Deployment Problem
I actually just did upgrade yesterday, but now, the machine will not recognize a task from the server. It boots to pxe but it won’t load into the deployment environment. It bypasses completely so quickly that I can’t see what is going on. It just goes right to the pxe menu.
