it literally says “tftp…” ?
how directly is this client connected to the server? what network equipment is in between? do you get a file when you run the command
tftp x.x.x.x get undionly.kpxe
from a windows computer, where the x’s are the IP of the server. you may need to install the tftp client, as it is not installed by default in windows 7 and higher.
The machine I am trying to register/image gets an IP but then TFTP looks like:

      TFTP…

Just FYI Fedora TFTP hangs as well. I don’t understand what gives. I’ll continue to test with other distros and update.

Anyways. What’s the big deal of me only posting 4 times? It doesn’t mean I didn’t research the forums for answers. I did in fact. But why should I bother go further when the solutions previously posted for the issue no longer work. Fog is not hard at all to setup in a isolated network environment but if is still not stable then why even bother. Ubuntu is a mainstream OS with an unbelievable large community… with that said my thoughts were that if it doesn’t work well on Ubuntu it will not work well installed on anything else so I didn’t bother. I am now testing on Fedora and I hope I am wrong for making such assumptions.

Is wrong I say thanks to Jaymes for replying?
Add to that, by the way, as Jaymes stated in the previous post to you, Ubuntu 12.04 was the only known OS with the TFTP issue. This was an UBUNTU bug, NOT something FOG did. If you’re still seeing this exact issue then feel free to report the bug to Ubuntu. Maybe it’s something they’re already aware. I DID NOT CREATE UBUNTU AND CANNOT STRESS THAT ENOUGH. EVEN IF I KNEW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO TO FIX THIS ISSUE, IT WOULD NOT HOLD DURING ANY SYSTEM UPDATES.
Then what OS do you recommend? According to the Wiki it recommends Ubuntu and Fedora. Can’t blame me then for trying hard to get it to work properly on Ubuntu.

Not sure why are you so defensive… so typical to find such attitude in every forum and this one is no different.

      Anyways…

Yeah, the issue went magically away once. Then came back. Thinking that is was something I did wrong I rebuilt several times but concluded that is not something I am doing wrong.

My definition of “the issue was fixed” means that is fix. It still happens so is not fix.

I’ll try with Fedora since you didn’t fix the issue from happening on Ubuntu.

I understand you are doing this for free and thank you for it but, don’t need to be mad when someone is disappointed when your product don’t meet expectations. Believe me when I say I wanted it to work… badly.

Feel free to bark at me some more.

    • I give up.

I have rebuilt my Fog 1.0.1 server 4 times. At first everything works perfect but then the next time I use it TFTP fails to start.

It doesn’t matter if I stop it and start it manually. It doesn’t matter if I run the restart command. It just doesn’t work. I gave Fog the benefit of the doubt. When it works is great and fast but is a complete waste of time to rebuild and upload my gold images again. I don’t understand how this old known issue and still hasn’t been resolved. I wish I had the programing skills to fix it my self but I don’t. Unfortunately today I checked Fog ones again to see if by any chance there were any updates but sadly there isn’t any. Is unfortunate that only because of the TFTP stopping and refusing to restart for no reason I am force to move on to another solution. 😞

By the way I was using Ubuntu 14.04 x64

[*]The problem I am having now is that I am unable to remove a host no matter what I try. The problem started when I tried full register and inventory instead of the quick register. Now the host is stuck on the Fog management console. The reason I am trying to remove it is so I can add it again. Trying to do a full registration and imaging did not work when I tried from the PXE boot. Now I want to try imaging doing the quick registration. Please advice on how to remove the host that just won’t go away.

SO I guess I’m the only one that has to reboot Ubuntu every time TFTP fails to start during PXE boot? Seriously?

    • DHCP no problem but TFTP always hangs during PXE boot even after restarting it. What gives?

      Hi everyone

      I am using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (64-bit)

      Fog version: 1.0.1

Setup: Isolated / VMware Workstation 10

Networking is not an issue. I get to register the virtual computer and go in to the FOG Management and set it to upload.

Now the actual issue is that TFTP hangs…

I go in to the console and type:

~$ sudo start isc-dhcp-server (but then it says “Job is already running: isc-dhcp-server”) So my guest is that DHCP is not an issue.

      I also tried:

      ~$ sudo restart tftpd-hpa

      I then get:

      tftpd-hpa start/running, process 4100

      TFTP still hangs (TFTP…)

I noticed that the TFTP stops working after I finish doing the configuration for upload on the FOG Management

      Please advice

    • RE: FOG 1.0.1 Released

      Dear Fog Dev Team

Just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work on this wonderful application. Years ago at my previous job I suggested we used FOG. At the time I didn’t have the necessary skills to setup FOG and my co-workers were too closed minded backwards to even bother. This was back in 2009 when they were still booting Ghost in a floppy to clone drives. Anyways forward two weeks ago when I started looking in to FOG again and noticed that it was still on active development when I noticed the release candidate last April. I figure it would be worth learning everything about FOG since it was still in development and about to release a new version with new features. Exciting! I am blown away by how lighting fast I can deploy an up to date Windows 7 fully loaded with applications in less than 5 minutes. My only regret is not trying harder to learn about setting up FOG back in 2009. I am glad the FOG project is still around for me and thousands of other IT professionals. FOG is truly a must have gem for any self respecting IT support admin. I and the rest of the FOG community thank the developing team for their work of love for this project.

P.S. Yes, I will be thanking as well with a small donation. 🙂
