SBS
I have an existing SBS 2003 installation. Currently the is 90%. There is a lot of folder redirection going to it on the domain, and the customer has agreed to upgrade to a New R server the end of July. Currently there is a single shared folder on the hard drive which users use to upload pictures from their patients. Underneath that shared folder they create folders with the patient name and insert pictures into those sub folders. About 1 week ago they lost all of the subfolders after the letter P. I did not find out until yesterday. Currently they run Norton Backup Exec to an external, and there is only about 3 days of back up available. The pictures are not in any of the backups (changed that immediately by the way). In screwing around with the sever trying to figure out what was going on, I noticed if I clicked into a subfolder and clicked the back arrow to return to the previous window, the cursor would spin and it would take considerable time. I double-checked the shared folder, and the names now went all the way to R, sometimes but rarely S. They magically appear from nowhere. The expected data is in the sub folders. I believe all the data is there, but because of a lack of space and constant server activity, that SBS 2003 has lost its location. I am currently running a chkdsk remotely (all I can off site… no /r) Does this sound like an effective remedy, or is there something else I can try.
