• RE: Basic FOG competency test

That would be great, since here we hire new guys to work for us during the summer.

Having a test to run the new blood through would cut my downtime to train the newbies up by a good bit.

@Quazz Thank you good sir, this will help me in my future endeavors. I have already re-mastered my image using these steps, but it will help with my next rebuild.

@Jbob Thank you! I’ve been building some EXEs with SFX maker, and this will simplify things greatly for me. Just gotta upload my office 2016 pro exe I complied and test it.

    • EXE snapins?

Is it still possible to create .exe snapins? I have found some older entries here on the forums, but I am unsure if the info is still accurate.

I have created a few simple MSI snapins, and a couple of BAT snapins. For stuff like Adobe CC packages and such, which run from a .exe rather than a MSI installer, what is the best method?

If the info I need is here and I didn’t look hard enough, I apologize. Feel free to point me in the right direction.

    • RE: Anyone has FOG 1.2 working with Dell Optiplex 7040?

I am actually imaging a bunch of 7040’s. My test deployment went well, but I am also on Trunk. I updated from 7565 to 7671 yesterday, and other than a small installation snafu, it has worked perfectly.

@Tom-Elliott Thank you for your help, Tom! It turns out something failed the first time I tried to update.

Now I am on 7671 and everything appears to be in order. You guys are very responsive, and that is awesome.

    • Updated to latest version, now GUI won't load

I just updated to the latest trunk version via the instructions, and now the FOG gui is not pulling up. all I get is a white screen.

If I go to the IP directly, I get the apache is running screen, but when I add the /fog to the end, white screen.

Do I need to reboot? restart a service? Will provide info as needed.

@Quazz Thank you so much. This makes my life infinitely easier. I have done really well with getting my FOG server set up and going, got my Win 7 golden image made and uploaded, but then ran into yet another “gotcha” by M$ when building my Win 10 golden image.

This will get me set up fro the massive Win 10 deployment we are planning this summer.

      Hats off to you!

@Quazz I am curious, what two entries need to be deleted? Sorry to necromance this thread, but I’m trying to set up a golden image and the damn thing won’t let me install the build upgrade in audit mode.

    • RE: PXE booting issues?

Update, I had a student helping me set up this test network, and it looks like he put the wrong subnet mask into these settings. He put 255.255.0.0 in while the DHCP server on FOG is 255.255.255.0. I’ll try that.
Alright, so how does anything know where to get their IP address?
I’ve set them to static on both. If that is causing the issue, I can try to find a router around here somewhere.

    • RE: PXE booting issues?

And this problem is only affecting me in the isolated setting. If I was installing FOG on our real network, I could edit all the DHCP settings I need to in our DHCP server. I just need it to work in my isolated test environment first lol
As you’re between separate switches, do you have anything that’s “helping” direct the dhcp back to the FOG Server?
I don’t think so. Let me clarify a bit. I have 3 workstations hooked to 1 switch.
I think I may just be missing something simple here.
