@benswan Yes. However, you have to make sure that it is not only stopped, but disabled. If it is not disabled, the service will start back up automatically and then hostnamechanger will do its job.

Not sure if this is your issue, but I know that before you capture your image, you should stop the FOG Service and also set it to Disabled for the startup. Then, use a script that is called after the imaging to start the service again. I use a setupcomplete.cmd myself.

@Scott-Boucher 2 logins is for other processes that we run. You should be able to change that number without issue.

Do you have a mix of 32-bit and 64-bit machines? I’m seeing both references all throughout your unattend file.

I’m in agreement with you that this must be a sysprep issue. This is a very detailed sysprep file. It appears to be doing a lot of different things.

Tell me, what all are you trying to do with the sysprep file? Mine is pretty simple and we image without an issue.

@george1421 I just verified, that line is indeed in my fog.conf file. If you look through the code that is posted on that particular thread, the change has already been made in the code that is posted. But, I did open the file on my server just to verify. Like i said, it is correct.

@george1421 I am. Even though they are way lower. Originally, loads were above 50, now load averages are < 10.

@george1421 I did the 1.5.0 update before working on the php-fpm stuff, so I should be good there.

After looking in the info.php, I am still seeing the Apache 2.0 handler. I have restarted services and server again just to try to force it, but still no go on getting FPM/FastCGI to show up.

All of the following information is the way our server has always been configured. No changes have been made and it has worked just fine in the past. This is a virtual box, running on Hyper-V with 2 CPUs assigned. The disk is a raid configuration disk, and this FOG server utilizes 1 of the NICs.

@joe-schmitt I have followed the directions provided by @george1421 via link https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/10717/can-php-fpm-make-fog-web-gui-fast/4, as well as updating to 1.5.0 stable.

php-fpm is enabled and I have changed checkin time to 15 minutes. My webui is still slow moving from page to page, as well as imaging still not working.

I just tried to image a computer this morning, and am unable to. It took ~ 3 minutes to run through the boot.php, init.xz, and 1 other file after choosing the image to deploy. My computer then when to a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left of the screen and it is still there.

Thoughts?

@tom-elliott Ok. I have reset encryption on all devices by placing them in a group and resetting encryption on the group. That did not resolve the issue.

I have also updated FOG to the latest stable (1.4.4). That also has not resolved the issue.

Any other thoughts? Particular log files you may want me to pull?

So, I know, I’m on an old version of FOG, but we had it to a good point and didn’t want to change anything.

With that being said, I have been out of the loop on FOG for the longest time, but it has just been given back to me due to the slowness issues that we are experiencing, and it is now my job to get it running again.

I should also add that this is, and always has been, a VM, built on Hyper-V.

From what I can tell, we are not maxing out the resources, as made evidence by the following:

I have restarted the server countless times, restarted the mysql service as well, but still slow to log in, go page to page, etc. I even upped the MAX MEMORY in FOG SETTINGS from 128 to 512 to see if that would help, which it didn’t.

Any ideas?

@Sebastian-Roth I am currently out of the office on vacation. When I get back, I will be more than happy to get one and start testing.

I had thought about that as a work around, didn’t think that would be the actual solution though. Thanks @Wayne-Workman

Description

I had to change the password for the domain user that we use to join our images to the domain. I changed it in FOG Configuration both for new client and for legacy (only did the FOGCrypt for the legacy passsword). I did save the changes.

However, when I deploy an image, the computer does not join the domain. I have tried this on 5 different computers (previously registered). The only way I can get the devices to join is to either:

 1. Delete the host from FOG and re-inventory it
 2. Clear the AD fields for the host/save/re-check the AD box

Is there a way to update all hosts currently in FOG to pull the new credentials that I have in the FOG Configuration?

Not sure about the Mac issue, but we use WSUS for our Windows Updates. It automates the installation/rebooting of our Windows environment.
