You could always use another server to manage DHCP. Most environments have DHCP servers and don’t use the router for DHCP. In case you decide to go that route, this page will show you how to configure DHCP for pxe boot.

What type of router were you using and what are you using now?

Memory almost 100% even after image complete
Any one else having this issue?
When my server boots up the memory usage is next to nothing. After the first image starts, memory shoots up to about 99% and stays that high even after the imaging has completed.
System:
Ubuntu 10.04
2 cores
4gb of RAM
Note: I assigned 8gb of RAM to it before and got the same results.
Disk, network and cpu performance all look normal.
Any ideas? -
RE: DVD doesn't read or write after image... Help!
I resolved this issue with my Optiplex 790s but not with my latitudes.
I simply uninstalled the device from devmgr and removed the optic drive.
Created a new image with out the device. When i deploy the image to other computers the proper software is installed automatically.
Hope this helps someone.

DVD doesn't read or write after image... Help!
I really want FOG to work as an imaging solution for my network. That hope is looking dim now.
Procedure:
Created windows 7 image from a Dell Optiplex 790. Used Multiple partition image, not resizable, single disk.
Then deploy to another Optiplex that has identical hardware.
Every thing looks great at this point.
Symptoms: Navigating to windows explorer, the drive appears. In device manager, the drive is also there. However, CDs or DVDs can not read/write.Failed attempts to fix:
- I’ve uninstalled the device from device manager and rebooted.
- Flashed the dvd/cd drive firmware and rebooted.
- Started the computer w/ out the drive in it, shut it down, put drive back in.
- Copied cdrom.sys from a working machine into the system32 directory.
- Checked for the upper and lower filters in the CD/DVD registry. --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
I’m at complete loss!
Any help or suggestions would be so awesome. I’ve spent a good amount of time configuring and setting up images to only find this project has been a waste of time. I have faith that FOG can be a great solution for us and i really want to see it work.
