I copied the fog_1.2.0 tarball from a Windows PC initially, then copied it to the Ubuntu box.
There was some issues decompressing it, so i re-downloaded it on the Ubuntu box. It decompressed fine, I re-installed, and the page comes up fine!

Fresh load of Ubuntu, fresh install of Fog.
I get the Fog login page, and enter fog/password, then get the blank index.php
I did not update or upgrade the OS.
I did not pre-install LAMP.
I set a static IP.
I used ‘password’ for mysql.
I enabled root and set the password to password.
The OS login is fogadmin with a password of password.
I must be missing a critical pre-requisite.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
Hey guys,
We just purchased a new Dell laptop for a mobile imaging station. We have quite a few sites with different subnets and IP ranges, so I have a mobile router in the mix too. The problem is, I’d like to have the clients add to each site’s domain via AD tool in FOG, wherever we may be. However, I am unsure as to how to route traffic to the domain controller.
When the router (old Netgear VPN) is handing out DHCP, I can see the domain controller but, obviously there’s no way to ‘next server’ or ‘pxe source’.
When FOG server does DHCP, I can see the internet, but not the domain controller.
The Mobile FOG server is: 1.1.1.11
Mobile Router: 1.1.1.1
Site’s Range: 192.168.xxx.xxx (Usually) That’s why I chose something really simple.
Is this simply a static route issue?
What do I need to set up on the router?
Is a better option to simply use a better router like a SonicWall that can handle a ‘next server’ request?
Thanks in advanced, you guys rock!

There are multiple threads about VMs and Universal images, but not pertaining to this particular crash.
I’ve created a master XP Pro image (on IDE) in VMWare (8.0) following a guide here on the forums. However, no matter what kernel or HDD type I use (single part, multi part), the physical PC receiving the image crashes and reboots after 2 seconds of the Windows logo.
The target PC is a Dell Opti 755, I’ve tried the same HDD in a Opti 745 too. BIOS is updated. I’ve tried AHCI and ATA, and legacy modes.
It very much seems like a driver issue, since the image is getting on the target HDD, but after 12 hours of troubleshooting I can’t think anymore.
Any ideas?
The logs are on the local PC that was imaged(c:\foglog [or something]), they don’t usally help though (for me). Ensure you’re using the correct syntax for the AD integration. Are you doing it per group?
Tom and Kansuke,
This is also maddening me! Is it possible for Dell or HP to send a client(me) a list of MACs on a shipment? We have ordered up to 80 machines at a time, and it really sucks to have to manually add them.
In current projects we have had to tie a Dell Service Tag to a laptop for warranty reasons:
Boot host
Quick inventory
List all hosts (in FOG)
xx:xx:xx:xx:xx --> gatesbill
Record MAC and Service tag Name in spreadsheet
Shutdown
Do this 9 more times
Start Multicast imaging
Box em up
Do 7x more times
Does this sound right, or am I out of it?
It would be awesome to even use the asset tag as a host name like Kansuke said. I don’t know how to program, let alone tackle linux. But I’m willing to learn!
Thanks!
Just curious how FOG users utilize additional storage nodes.
Do you guys have a bunch of boxes side by side? VMs?
Also, I really want to image a fog server, what do you recommend? FOG? Acronis?
Thanks!

Hey tlongfog

I what I use. I have about 30 sites that use FOG, so I have to prep them at HQ, and have to change the settings later. Most of the time if I have issues, I just run a reinstall: (from terminal)
sudo mv /opt/fog/.fogsettings /opt/fog/fogsettings-firstInstall
then plug in new IP settings. It should keep all your images and hosts (I’m 90% sure)
This sound right guys?
astrouga,
Thanks SO much for looking into this. I really had to get a server going, so I reloaded with 10.04. I’ll try this next time I load a 12 box.
Thanks again!
From what I read about it on other sites, youre better off using FOG for storage. Is that for backup purposes?
I had similar issues with my Dells.
What I do:
-Prep entire machine.
-Boot from Win7 DVD
-Delete the 100MB partition
-Upload using Multi Partition
Works everytime
I’ve been imaging PCs via Ghost boot CD and Acronis for years on XP, 2000, Vista, and Win 7 . Why havn’t i had any of these issues without sysprepping?
Hey guys,
I have a normal FOG build on a Ubuntu 12.04. It works AMAZING… until I reboot the Ubuntu box. I then get a TFTP Timeout… This is easily fixable by reinstalling FOG over itself. But I would like to fix the underlying problem.
Possible fixes?
Any ideas would be wonderful,
Thanks in advance.
Could you be a little more specific? After the PC PXE boots it finds the image THEN stalls?
I got that with some of my first images. What OS you using for FOG?
What kind of PC are you using ChuckC1981?
