FOG deployment in remote office
Hi all
I am considering deploying a FOG server in a remote office. I read about a storage node and then I saw that it does not do DHCP, TFTP and PXE by default but there is a guide to enable it.
Is it not possible just to have a master node in main office and storage node in remote office and change the DHCP scope on a Domain Controller to look at my main FOG server for PXE boot? If I did this would clients in my remote office pull images from the storage node or from the main FOG server?
Thx in advance

RE: Upload/Deploy Rapido - FAST upload/deploy
Hi Jonathan, as far as i am aware there is no settings you can set to deploy and upload faster. Could you tell us a bit more about the speeds you are getting? What network do you sit on? 100 mbit or 1 gigabit?

Boot loop on some Dell Optiplex 790 when first boot device is NIC
Hi all,
I could do with some help on how to troubleshoot this issue. We just purchased 15 x Dell Optiplex 790 slim PC’s and all 15 is set to have the NIC as first boot device. After I have deployed an image to them and they restart for the first time before sysprepping. On some of them i see Booting from local harddrive and then it will restart and then carry on in an infinite boot loop. If i pull the network card and let it boot up it works again and first windows start is completed etc.
Have anyone has similar behavior and does anyone know how I troubleshoot this? The 15 PC’s should be identical.
Help please

RE: Can i use fog to format my pc?
Iris, just to summon everything up so you dont get confused over this.
- Yes you can use FOG to re-image your PC
- Yes in a sense you can format your PC using the wipe function.
Just be aware that you need a separate computer/server to have FOG running on, otherwise it makes no sense. Obviously if you have to re-image your home PC and fog is running on it, when you turn off your home pc, so is FOG.

RE: Dell Optiplex 390 in a reboot loop if booting in FOG PXE menu
Hi,
I (successfully) imaged a Dell Optiplex 390 with Win7 last week, with the “chainloading” corrected, it works.
This is great news!! do you have any unpleasant side effects? -
RE: Can i use fog to format my pc?
iris r > please can you clarify what you need. In a sense yes you can format your PC with the wipe function. If you ask if you can re-install your PC with FOG then yes providing you already have made some leg work and uploaded an image of your PC.
We need to know what exactly you need before we can help any further.

RE: Dell Optiplex 390 in a reboot loop if booting in FOG PXE menu
http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Boot_looping_and_Chainloading
You’ve got to setup chain loading for the latest Dell machines to be able to boot to the hard drive once you’ve PXE booted into FOG.
Thank you very much for this. I did spot this chain loading earlier in my search, but the side effects i was not so sure that i liked. Do you find them to be in the way at all?Do you know what causes this behavior?

Dell Optiplex 390 in a reboot loop if booting in FOG PXE menu
Hi everyone,
What would cause my Dell Optiplex 390 with WIN7 to reboot after it boot in to the FOG PXE menu and boot from harddrive after the 3 seconds? If my first boot device is the HDD itself then everything works fine.
Also it looks like there is errors booting into the FOG PXE menu, but it goes too fast for me too read them. is there any way they would be in a log file somewhere?
Regards
Ronnie
