      @sebastian-roth That change worked! The screen doesn’t have our background image and different colored text. What does that mean we need to do to get the regular console back?

      @sebastian-roth So far we see all the iPXE messages and everything looks fine until we get to the FOG menu itself. That is when we get scrambled display output.

      @sebastian-roth I was finally able to get this done. We are not always in the office due to the current pandemic. After updating the iPXE we are still getting the same behavior.

      @Sebastian-Roth I PM’ed you a link to the video. This is showing when we select a task to start from the menu. Right now, we don’t have any of these PC’s registered but we might be able to get that done for testing purposes.

      @Sebastian-Roth When scheduling a task to run when the system is booting using iPXE/UEFI, the lines that you have displayed are garbled. But as soon as it loads everything is fine and you can clearly see all the associated text.

      The laptops are using UEFI. They should have the latest BIOS version available. These are specifically ProBook 445 G2. They have AMD Radeon R5 graphics. Processor AMD A8-7100.

    • HP ProBook 445 G2 Not Displaying iPXE Menu Correctly

      FOG: 1.5.8
      bzImage Version: 4.19.101
      bzImage32 Version: 4.19.101

      When we PXE boot these HP ProBook 445 laptops, we are getting some very interesting artifacting going on. These are the only devices that we are seeing it on. We are able to navigate the menu if we do it by memory and the amount of clicks so that we can get them imaged and registered. Haha. But that is not always great, when you have to do other tasks.

      Any ideas??? It almost seems like maybe a resolution issue… Computer displays everything else fine.

    • RE: Problems deploying/managing new windows host...

      @bogle We are a pure HP shop and we have seen these errors before. Just as long as you are able to register and deploy/capture images I wouldn’t worry about the errors, I could be wrong if there is truly an issue but in our experience it shouldn’t really matter. What I would like to know is what is the error output after “Starting eno1 interface…?” Anything?

      Now if you are able to register the host in FOG I would recommend going to that specific host in the FOG UI, under the General tab and setting Host Kernel Arguments to apci=off and try to deploy again and see if that helps.

    • RE: HP EliteDesk 705 G1stops on rEFInd

      @Birgit-Godfrey I would also check and make sure that you have the latest BIOS installed on your system. We have run into issues that PXE booting was not always stable or even worked until we updated the BIOS.

      Also, you need to make sure that you change refind_x64.efi, if using 64bit, file to the 0.11.0 rEFInd. We had to change both of them in order for things to boot. Something pretty new for FOG.

      @Sebastian-Roth

      Thank you for your help!

      @Quazz

      You are absolutely right. I always struggle to keep the copying behavior between Linux and robocopy. Sure enough there was a snapin folder inside of the snapin folder. I thought that I had checked that but probably just saw that files were there and did not pay attention to the path. The hashes now exist and I saw that in the logs that it was generated and deploying of those snapins now work as expected.

      I appreciate everyone’s help and willingness 🙂

      @Birgit-Godfrey

      We are an all HP environment so we have found that 0.11.0 rEFInd is required for all of our machines to boot. We also have to change in the refind.conf that Sebastian mentioned is the line scanfor netboot,internal to scanfor internal

      You might want to try some of the things mentioned in this post: https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/11993/refind-pxe-booting-issue/

      What version of FOG are you currently using?

      rEFInd has made some changes that do not always agree with some older hardware but depending on your version might not be the case.

    • Snapin hash does not exist

      Ubuntu 18.04.2
      FOG 1.5.7.2

      After migrating my server files and database, I am not able to get the snapins to work.

      In the logs of the client this is what I am seeing:

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      ---------------------------------SnapinClient---------------------------------
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
       8/5/2019 10:49 AM Client-Info Client Version: 0.11.16
       8/5/2019 10:49 AM Client-Info Client OS:      Windows
       8/5/2019 10:49 AM Client-Info Server Version: 1.5.7.2
       8/5/2019 10:49 AM Middleware::Response Success
       8/5/2019 10:49 AM SnapinClient Running snapin Set IP Address ONLY
       8/5/2019 10:49 AM SnapinClient ERROR: Snapin hash does not exist

      I have tried based on another thread to go into the database and set null to sHash column. I did do that in MariaDB as it appears that is now the database to which FOG uses. Re-ran the installer. Still getting the same error and database shows nothing in the sHash column.

      Any ideas on how to fix this?

      @Sebastian-Roth

      So far I think my Linux host has corruption after an update it fails to boot. I have to go back and select the old Linux kernel just to boot.

      I am now in the process of rebuilding fog. I have imported my database back and have changed IPs, hostnames and password based on the wiki.

      I am now running 1.5.7.2 and now so far so good after lots and lots of troubleshooting.
