    • RE: Fog using dhcp and dns from exisiting network

Thank you everyone for your help. I had networking team move to same vlan and it worked fine. Then i had them move to seperate vlan and use wireshark. I found out we had sccm pxe setup. This was done long time ago. No one removed the forwards on the router.

Now we have it working once we removed the entries.

I did update the fog server to the latest version and still the same issue. I am not sure where to go. Virtualbox has the extension installed and vm workstation should work.

I did do this from broadcom

      @Fog_Newb

yes. I have tried bios to uefi and bios. I still do not get anything. UEFI it does not even look like it goes out. Bios I get a boot file missing.

I swear 24h2 I did not have to change anything. I lost that image though. I might redo it to see .

Bios boot order is changed correctly.

    • vm workstation 17 and pxe boot not working

I can confirm nothing has changed on the fog server. I can take a laptop and connect and pxe boot and it works with no issues. I currently have windows 11 running with uefi. I have no tpm set and can switch it to boot to regular bios , if needed.

I boot it up with bios or uefi and it does nothing. It goes to look for it and times out. I was on vm workstation 16 and this did work at one time but my pc died and I had to recreate all images.

I am not sure what to look for since the physical laptop I can get to the fog server and push and image.

    • fog server failing at updating database

I did reboot the server many times. I ran an ubuntu update with no issues. I am not sure what is going on. It appears to image file fine and partclone is done but it never updates the database.

I did use ftp and able to connect to the image folder with no issues. I am not sure how to see if database is actually running. I really need to get this working as I made several updates on the image

I am running this in a VM workstation and never had any issues until today. I am not sure which logs to go after as I never seen this type of issue.

    • dev-branch upload images

I have a fog server that is on a desktop and works great. I been trying to get it to work from a VM that way I have less issues when i upgrade.

I have the fog server working the the VM and able to get to the pxe menu. When i go to deploy image it states unable to locate image store. I have no hosts on this machine at all. I am going to call this FOG VM.

The Fog Desktop i went in and copied the images from image folder and move them to FOG VM and uploaded the file that i exported from the GUI .

i can boot up to the pxe menu and it connects to the FOG VM pxe menu. When i deploy the image i get the error unable to locate image store. I did look at the other messages on screen and it is pointing to the correct folder and ip address of the FOG VM server.

I am not sure where to check next. If it gets the pxe menu then the FOG VM is working.

the only difference between FOG VM and fog desktop is

FOG VM - on dev branch version
fog desktop - on master branch

    • RE: VM Workstation with fog issues

well i finally solved the issue. I switched to the dev-branch version. Then i install fog again with same exact settings. It complained about not having an ip address. I run service isc-dhcp-server status and it showed it was working.

this time in the dev branch i browsed to the dhcp folder and found it created the dhcp server file this time from fog.

i set my vm to bridge and then booted my other computer and it worked.

if i want a VM to connect I have to change my VM to Nat and not bridged.
