    • RE: Broken iPXE boot loader

So I solved it by changing DHCP Option to snponly.efi. Now new laptop is installing, not sure if updating IPXE was required, but works now.

    • RE: Broken iPXE boot loader

@george1421 I wonder now if upgrading the present version (1.5.10) to the newest, 1.5.10.1629, will fix it for these fresh laptops, even though I already have the newest IPXE version 1.21.1+.

Can I return to the previous version if something fails with running an old fog installer?

Is change from ipxe.efi to snp.efi or snponly.efi could help?

@george1421 I did the “hacker way” tftp update.png yet there is still the error while booting the laptop

    • RE: Broken iPXE boot loader

@george1421 Thank you for your response, so with this newest laptops (HP Elitebook 640 g11) I need to update IPXE with the newest IPXE version and do the “hacker way” - The hacker way to update your production environment is to copy over the updates files to the /tftpboot directory with this command cp -R /root/fogproject/packages/tftp/ /tftpboot
Note: watch the source path if your git fogproject directory is not in the /root/fogproject directory*
cause re-running for installation bring me back to start.
What if I use new version of fog Installer over my 1.5.10 now, it will break?

    • RE: Broken iPXE boot loader

Hi, I have the same error, but I had git version, I did upgrade IPXE as is needed for our new Laptops, then I did rerun installation of Fog. I used install file from past the same as the fog we are having 1.5.10. It all looked fine, but the error is the same. Should I used new version of Fog over this one?

    • New fog server and Hosts not joining AD

hello, we have new fog server prepared, setting copied from another one working fine in diffrent location, but there is problem with new computers imaged not adding to active directory.
I checked the account, rights and password all fine. I did check also telnet server IP 443 and 80, pinged the server all ok.
The diffrence is that ubuntu server where this fog is installed is added to AD. Any tips what to check, why is not adding host to AD? I am adding log from host

Sorry for no response till now, I tested with antivirus disabled, created new snapin, and add new file again. Old end up with hash error.
This machine have build in wifi and lan, now its error on both. In snapin history all task end with return code -1 after around 1 min time. What else I can check?

this is showing only once I trying to run the snapin on wireless. Snapin on the same machine on wired network goes through nicely (well beside script failing to work).
So I want to ask, if snaping will always fail when I switch network card and mac address? Can I have it work on both? If laptops only work on wireless should I try to image them via wireless too?
Please give some hints, explanations how to solve it

      thank you in advance!

      linux: centos 7
      dhcp seeting ipxe.efi
computer: HP Elitedesk 705 g5 sff with Amd processor

problem with only one machine after trying to deploy new image, we got this error on every boot:
      3571d618-f908-44e1-9500-09aa5addf5b0.jpg

What I did was: setting bios back to defaults and set it for uefi again, secure boot disabled
delete machine from fog completely in webui.

      What else I can do?

Hi, so I did change to version refind version 0.10.4 worked with my HP models, and capture new image, on only UEFI bios, and its working. @EduardoTSeoane made me think that I have only legacy compatible images so I tried to fix that. Thank you guys for help!

@sebastian-roth Yes I am testing it every time too, always end with chainloading failed, and reboot in 10 seconds.
Edit: I found more options to exit boot:
      a) IPXE General Configuration> boot Exit settings> exit to hard drive type (EFI)
      b) Fog settings> Fog boot settings> EFI boot exit type

are they different, and what with “boot exit type” its also there which is to change here?

I also notice that “key sequence which is set to f12” is not recognized, and its always “ESC” instead, maybe its not sending settings to machine after changing to ipxe.efi?

Maybe I am missing something as I need in the new Image for this? I am open for suggestions

      @sebastian-roth

Is there other ways to use UEFI, cause refind is really not working for me, I have checked a few versions, still no luck, and even if I found it finally, I am not sure it will work with a different HP model when we have like 4 and also hp laptops. Checking refind for every model seems endless work 😞

    • Stuck on About rEFInd

      Hello,
I received new machines with only UEFI boot option when until now, I was using Legacy successfully.

      1. We changed DHCP option 067 to ipxe.efi
      2. Updated kernel from console with this article https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Kernel_Update
      3. Exchanged refind_x64.efi to version 0.10.9 cause we have only HP machines.

I can get to Fog deploy menu and choose to register machines, then its deploying image and all goes fine till its restarting and trying to boot to windows:
      IMG_20210528_083531.jpg

from this momenet only I can do is to restart computer or shutdown 😞

      What I can do?

    • RE: 1.5.9 RC2 - snapin hash not match on new computers

More info - from old fog I exported only hosts via web browser - old hosts when reinstalling have correct hash and snapins works smoothly. Issue is only with machines which I register.
      No errors in fogsnapinhash.log
