RE: Snapin task failed (Ubuntu 14.04 and FOG 1.0.1)
It was to my understanding that if the snap-ins were already assigned to the machine they would get installed following the image deployment, however they are not.
So I deployed an image waited for it to get fully loaded and logged into the computer as a user, go back to fog and scheduled an immediate snapin deploy task, that’s when I would run into this message/error
I also checked Active Snapin Tasks and Scheduled Tasks and there’s nothing pending in there

Snapin task failed (Ubuntu 14.04 and FOG 1.0.1)
I have no problem initially deploying snapins, however, it seems once they’ve been deployed to a machine and that machine gets re-imaged, and it goes to redeploy the snapins I get the following error:
“All Snapins task failed to create for computer with image imagename
Snapins Are already deployed to this host.”Thanks in advance for any offerings!

Fix for anybody that says they can't join/re-join to the domain (FOG 1.0.1 and Ubuntu 14.04)
I ran into this problem with Ubuntu 14.04 and FOG 1.0.1, create a brand new user account in AD click on the link and follow the directions under section 2 (Allowing a security principal to join and re-join a computer to a domain) its the equivalent for setting up a user in SCCM
http://morgansimonsen.wordpress.com/2013/12/17/delegating-computer-object-management-tasks/
The domain admin account that I was trying to use would fail everytime even though it has the rights to add/remove and modify computer users and worked fine joining/re-joining computers to the domain with other imaging solutions. That being said I’m not sure if it’s an over privileged account for the job, so that’s why I created a dedicated account to this one sole purpose.
So I created a new user and made the appropriate changes to the account and it instantly resolved all my AD joining/re-joining woes (literally the second I entered the new credentials into FOG for active directory defaults the computer started going to work)

RE: Fog 1.0.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 joining domain problems
Ok, I on a whim created a new user in AD with sole purpose of joining computers to AD, re-encrypted a new password and it appears to have resolved the issue.
Can’t thank you guys enough for the help and the amazing software
Thanks,
Matt

RE: Fog 1.0.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 joining domain problems
I tried all that yesterday as noted in my first post, the .ini file, made sure it wasn’t in AD already, and were not previously joined to the domain, and checked all of the global and client service settings
I also tried manually forcing it to the OU instead of leaving it blank for default
still getting the 1326

RE: Fog 1.0.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 joining domain problems
Ok, trying the Automatic (Delayed Start) I know when I installed the service piece I installed it “for Everyone”
I think we’re getting closer though, it’s showing a new error in the log “Domain Error! (‘Unknown Error’ Code: 1326)”

RE: Fog 1.0.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 joining domain problems
Ok, I double checked the HostNameChange on the server using Microsoft Visual Studio Express, the client name is still updating however I am still unable to join it to the domain… This is what the log is showing now
5/28/2014 10:00 AM FOG::HostnameChanger Unknown error, module will exit.
5/28/2014 10:00 AM FOG::HostnameChanger Host name was not found in the database.I also tried removing the client from FOG and re-imaging like it was a brand new PC, however still the same result

RE: Fog 1.0.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 joining domain problems
I also tried generating an encrypted password with the default config.ini, same result

RE: Fog 1.0.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 joining domain problems
I think I found this here http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Managing_FOG
Am I understanding correctly, I should recompile the hostnamechanger.dll?

RE: Fog 1.0.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 joining domain problems
I guess I’m not that familiar with the hostnamechanger.dll, is that something I can change?

Fog 1.0.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 joining domain problems
Maybe somebody can help me out with something I’m missing, but I can’t get my clients to auto join the domain after an image, they are not being captured joined to the domain and have made sure it is not in AD
I have used FOGCrypt and changed the .ini previous before encrypting and generating the password
I have entered all the credentials in the FOG System Settings > Active Directory Defaults properly
the log on the client often shows the error “… Padding is invalid”
I am able to change the client name, just can’t get it to join the domain… Any help is appreciated

Fog 1.0.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 network printers
I have successfully installed FOG 1.0.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 for the server, installed and imported the client into FOG web GUI, imaging upload and downloading works flawlessly, however, when I try to setup network printers I can’t get the server to push them to the client
checking the fog.txt log file on the client it shows it connecting to the server and checking for printers however it says there is 0 printers found on server
5/23/2014 8:50 AM FOG:PrinterManager Printer update was request from fog tray…

5/23/2014 8:50 AM FOG:PrinterManager Management level = 1

5/23/2014 8:50 AM FOG:PrinterManager Adding new printers to host…

5/23/2014 8:50 AM FOG:PrinterManager 0 found on server side.

5/23/2014 8:50 AM FOG:PrinterManager Failed to connect to fog server!

5/23/2014 8:50 AM FOG:PrinterManager Sleeping for 1 minute.
This is how I have the printer configured FOG web GUI, but it’s setup as a network printer with \server\printer namei have tried multiple variations
\server\SecondFloorOperations - Xerox 7775
smb://server/SecondFloorOperations%20-%20Xerox%207775
\ipofserver\SecondFloorOperations - Xerox 7775maybe even a couple others, is there something I am missing? does the printer have to be locally installed in the OS?
I changed my server name to “server” for security purposes
Thanks!
