• FOG available as a QPKG for QNAP Devices

I’d love to see fog to be able to installed on a qnap NAS device in that it can be an all in one imaging appliance.

Have options as either a full FOG server install or a FOG node. this could be packaged into a QPKG for easy installation.

    • Managing Imaging at remote sites

I manage a couple of sites that have remote locations connected via fairly slow WANs.

What is the best way to deploy FOG across multiple sites?

I would like to be able to image from a central site but tftp and nfs are local at the remote sites.

      Do I do the following?

      1. Master node at my central site
      2. At my remote sites can I run just NFS servers (looking at QNAP NAS replication required images via rsync) and have these added as storage nodes on my master server.
      3. provide tftp service on these QNAP and replicated boot images from master as per http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Multiple_TFTP_servers

I just came across this myself, and although you probably fixed it by now looking at the date of your post, for future reference for others I found my problem was down to some stale computer accounts in my AD, I removed these and all good.

    • RE: FOG server - Fatal Error: Failed to mount NFS Volume

nevermind for future reference I inserted the following after line 78 of /var/www/fog/service/Post_Stage2.php

      $noderoot = ltrim($noderoot, “/mnt”);

All working with openfiler now 🙂

    • RE: FOG server - Fatal Error: Failed to mount NFS Volume
As an addendum. Openfiler has a particular quirk. Openfiler lets you create a folder then assign a share to the folder. You get to mix and match from SMB,CIFS, NFS, FTS or RSYNC. I chose NFS and FTP for my FOG share. NFS maps this as /mnt/raid6/data/FOG/

however. within FTP it is mapped to /raid6/data/FOG - i.e. the /mnt is dropped. In order to get the very last FTP copy portion to work (to avoid “unable to move” errors)I needed to edit :

      /var/www/fog/service/Post_Stage2.php

and alter the $src and $dest portions slightly. Im sure there is a config area for this somewhere but I didnt have time to find them. I couldnt see one in the settings part of the UI.
Hi KK20, what changes did you do to the Post_Stage2.php? as I’m having the exact same problem with FOG and Openfiler?

      Many thanks,

      Stephen…
