Fog and Opal 2.0 self-encrypting drives?
Curious if there are any issues with Fog and Opal 2.0 self-encrypting drives? I searched through the forums and found a thread which stated issues, but couldn’t determine if that was due to the advanced 4k formatting sectors or from the self-encryption of the drive. We are considering new computers which may have Opal 2.0 drives and wondered if anyone has success or failures with these type of drives.

RE: Host Bios Exit Types
@Wayne-Workman Thank you so much for the information Wayne. That really is extremely helpful info. I’ll have to look for that global setting in the fog settings. Thanks again!

Host Bios Exit Types
I’m currently running Trunk version 7981. Our desktops we Fog are Dell Optiplex 9010. We created our first Windows 10 image earlier this summer. I noticed at that time after the desktop was imaged at boot after the Fog PXE handoff to the hard drive we’d get a black screen regarding the Bootmgr. In Fog I changed the Host Bios Exit Type and Host EFI Exit Type to “GRUB_FIRST_FOUND_WINDOWS” This seemed after rebooting this appeared to allow the desktops to load. I then updated the image and pushed it out. On a few machines I found that I had to change to “GRUB_FIRST_HDD” for the systems to load. Can one of the developers tell me more about what each of the Host Bios Exit Types are? I’m not sure why changing this setting worked but it did…apparently.

RE: Client install issues - Legacy uninstall
@Wayne-Workman I am building a clean image as well. This image has a lot of individually installed software applications that I’d like not to have to re-install but if it’s the only option then it must be done. Everything else was working perfectly fine on the upgrade, except uninstalling the old Fog and installing the new version.

RE: Client install issues - Legacy uninstall
@kman1232 I should mention this image was upgraded to Windows 10 from a Windows 7 install. Now on the Windows 7 install and image the uninstall of the old client and install of the new client when perfect. I think I’m going to just re-install the Windows 7 image and uninstall the old client and install the new client and then upgrade to Windows 10.

@Tom-Elliott Unfortunately same result. I even tried running CCleaner.

RE: Client install issues - Legacy uninstall
@Tom-Elliott Yes I have done restarts after each step. It would be interesting to know what the installer checks at the step “Checking for Legacy Client” As whatever that step in the installer is failing on my computer. There must be specific locations on the computer it is checking.

RE: Client install issues - Legacy uninstall
@Tom-Elliott Thanks for the reply Tom. It does not show up in Programs nor does it show in the Uninstall Programs list. I have a feeling some remnant is still in the registry but I don’t know where the old Fog client installs to.
