    • RE: Having issues with Win 7 x64

      Hi Guys

Just been checking out our 32bit machines and they all have 4k bytes per cluster. Bytes per sector is at 512.

I did however bring it down on our x64 PCs to 2048 and I still got the same error message.

Unable to move /images/dev/mac address to /images/image name etc etc.

Can we set it to anything 2048 and under?

      Hi Tom,

Thanks for the reply. I can upload x32 perfectly fine even after this error? That’s why I assumed it wouldn’t be a permissions problem.

I haven’t set those passwords myself, but there does seem to be a password in there. Please see attached.

    • Having issues with Win 7 x64

      Hi Guys,

I am using Fog 0.32 on Ubuntu 10.04. I have created, uploaded and deployed a Win7 x32 image perfectly fine without any issues whatsoever.

I can’t say the same for Win7 x64, everytime I go to upload the image it comes up with

unable to move /images/dev/(mac address) to /images/

It can’t be a permissions issue as I can do x32 images fine, will it have an effect if it’s Legacy/EFI?

Does it matter if it’s AHCI or IDE?

Could somebody please assist, I am seriously struggling.

      Thanks guys

      Kam

    • Deploying FOGClient via GPO

      Hi Guys,

Just wanted to ask a quick question in regards to deploying the FOG Client on PCs via GPO.

In the install for the Client, you have to put in the IP address of your FOG Server right? Is there any way of having this whole installation process silently? So you can have the fields pre-filled? and it doesn’t have to show up on the screen of every computer?

      Hi Chad,

I have tried the approach you suggested, no fogprep or sysprep. After imaging the PC it JOINED THE DOMAIN!

Thank you so much for that the only problem I had is the Service didn’t start automatically if I have it as Logon as (the domain fog account).

Just to clarify where is the AD join information in 0.32? I can see the Join domain after image option when I go to hosts, is there another AD option?

So If I am using Win 7 and Fog 0.32 I don’t need to use FOGPrep? Just Sysprep and upload image?

Interesting, because that was the first thing I tried but it didn’t work. Will double check everything and try again.

    • Adding Imaged Host to Domain and Renaming

      Hi Guys,

Just a bit of background. I have been given a project to roll out Win 7 to our XP machines in 2 offices without spending much money lol. So I came across Fog, and glad I did. Great bit of kit and very thankful for everyone that made it possible.

Firstly I have built my Windows 7 Machine that I want to take the image from, taken the image and even deployed it on one other PC. All good except for a couple of things.

1 - How do I get it to join domain? (yes I have done the FogCrypt majiggy and added it in etc still no luck when I image the PC)

2 - How do I know Fogprep is working? Is there a log somewhere I can read etc. What alternative do I have if Fogprep isn’t working? I have tried sysprep with a custom unattend.xml but I have no idea what I am doing and it screwed up the last time I tried it. Kept telling me Windows hasn’t installed properly must restart and keeps looping.
I have 2 images one is 32 bit and 1 64bit. I am currently testing the 32bit. Does anyone have a working unattend file?

      Kam

P.S: only thing left is for my PCs to join domain and re-naming the PCs

    • The Third Argument [ /images/Optiplex360] must be a valid regular file or fifo...

      Hi Guys,

Ok I’m still fairly new to FOG and attempting to deploy our first image.

Basically the setup is FOG is installed on Ubuntu 10.04LTS.

I have created a Win 7 PC with the stuff that I require on it, uploaded the image to FOG as a Single Partition (NTFS only, Resizable). I am trying to deploy it to a machine which currently has Windows XP installed on it. Everytime I try to deploy the image I get the above error message “The Third Argument [/images/win732bit] must be…”

Could anyone lend me a hand or point me in the right direction please?

I created a domain admin account specifically for the FOG service to use.

Going to try the snap-in now. Will let you know how I fare.
