It seems weird… fog.log didn’t prompt anything wrong, no join domain error codes. We’ll crawl into that today.

We’ve been replicating computers in a room, set the “Join AD after task completion” and after the task completion guess what ? Hostname successfuly changed but no AD auto join …

We’ve been looking around, crawling logs and Database and we found that imported computers from a CSV or by directly writing them into FOG SQL database won’t join Active Directory after Task Completion.

We had to manually remove them from PXE boot menu and re-add them with “Full Host Registration”, then they will boot up and join AD correctly.

How can we skip that buggy thing ? Is there a SQL parameter to define ? Something special to do ???

We are now used to it but the IP configuration for DHCP is somehow not that perfect.

• Static IP is OK
• No custom netmask settings (we are using /21 netmask for example)
• No DHCP range definition

Did you registered the Hosts or did you import them with CSV/SQL injection ?

I don’t know if I explained well, it’s a GLPI Plugin, not a FOG Plugin in fact

It connects to FOG MySQL Database but work on the basis of GLPI !

We’ve been developing with my trainee a plugin for GLPI.
If you don’t know GLPI yet, [SIZE=3][FONT=sans-serif][COLOR=#252525]it’s a free[/COLOR][/FONT][FONT=sans-serif][COLOR=#252525] asset and IT management software package, it also offers functionalities like servicedesk ITIL or license tracking and software auditing. [/COLOR][/FONT][/SIZE]

Very popular here in France.

We are using it in my school to inventory our computers, and as we’ve already inventory everything and reinstall FOG from scratch, we’ve need a plugin to export computers from GLPI to FOG.

It does not simply overwrite everything,
[LIST]
[]The plugin look after the computers you already registered with FOG and try to find matches with GLPI.
[]If name and MAC address matches, it will prompt you that the computer is already in GLPI and FOG
[*]If name OR MAC address matches, it will prompt you that it maybe an issue, different name but same MAC address/same name different MAC address

Tested and running on FOG 1.1.1 and GLPI 0.83 and over.

I FORGOT TO RE-ADD THE DEFAULT.IPXE FILE SO IT CANNOT BOOT !!!

It’s now loading properly =D

To conclude :

• FOG Fresh install of 1.1.1
• Use the latest trunk files that Tom gave/ Use my command script to retrieve them in /tftpboot
• chown them with the right user:group (fog:root)
• recreate the Default.ipxe file
• Flash your BIOS with latest update so it can properly boot up iPxe (for Lenovo 3493-KAG : [url]http://support.lenovo.com/en_GB/downloads/default.page?selector=expand[/url])
• File to use for Realtek 8111 network card is undionly.kpxe provided by Tom

We’ve updated the BIOS for our problematic device (Lenovo Thincenter E72 3493-KAG) and now the PXE boot goes a little further
