    • Hardware Independant Image

New to fog…2nd day here and still trying my best to learn this and keep up. We have a ton of different makes and models in our environment and I was thinking about doing a hardware independent image and use like 1 image rather than 20. Is this worth it? I’m having a hard time grasping how I accomplish this?

For example, Ive installed Windows 7 already on a machine and did some baseline OS configs…but should I be installing the drivers? I can’t do windows updates without the nic drivers for example. However If I do the drivers than that jacks up the image for when I upload it to FOG.

Anyone have some steps for me or direction??

    • RE: Wiping Drive Before Deploying Image

Ok…but you you saying the fog client should be installed, then you are assuming the client is booted into windows. Then you could do the reboot from the GUI, correct?

    • Wiping Drive Before Deploying Image

So I’ve uploaded a pre-sysprep image and testing FOG. I got that far, so I’m excited. Now I wanna test that image by pushing it back down to the same computer. I wanna wipe the drive first. I scheduled a task to do a normal wipe. Can I reboot the computer from the GUI and have this all done remotely…or do I have to physically reboot the machine and boot to PXE in order for the task to kick off?

      Thank you in advance!!

Think I figured it out. I had installed the locations plugin to see what it was all about. However I never had configured it…so one I added a location…it seems to be ok now. !

    • RE: Can't upload image to server

Fresh install on ubuntu 10. Something. I think I left most things default so yes there is a node assigned. Searched google and the forums for that error and nobody has ever had that issue which is why I’m posting. I’m so lost…I’ve tried everything.

M ubunutu server is running on virtual box if that matters
