It does it on computers I’ve never logged into the FOG GUI from. So far all the servers I’ve upgraded for my district (they don’t use storage nodes and a central server so we have about a dozen running around the district) this is the only one that has printers set up other than my own server. I run a recent SVN install of FOG and about 200+ printers. I never had this issue. The other server only has maybe 15 printers set up so we may just redo those printers. Creating new printers doesn’t have the issue. I think its something from the import of the SQL database.

RE: FOG 1.2.0 printers list
I agree, and they were but the first / was removed randomly after the upgrade to 1.2.0. And since when you click the printer to edit it and no fields show up to edit, it can’t be changed. Is there a way to get those fields to show up again. Clicking on a printer gives you what I screenshot in the OP.

FOG 1.2.0 printers list
Recently updated a fog server and the printer list shows no details https://i.imgur.com/Z2PTe2t.png . If you list all printers, you see the INF location, IP address etc but when you select one, nothing at all like the screenshot. Also, none of them are installing either. It looks like one of the / in front of the server name for the inf is missing. (e.g. //servername/inflocation became /servername/inflocation).
The FOG server was rebuilt from scratch. Its running CentOS 6.5 and FOG 1.2.0. The existing mysql database was imported. Any idea how to get the printers correctly working again?

RE: MYSQL connections max out and slow down fog server
I almost think we should make that truncate part of the upgrade script.
Also part of the backup script. I backup my database every 2 weeks.
Just remember to post back here if you fix it so we can see the solution. ;-)
Tom is going to post the results. it did get solved. I can’t really go into the fix as it is way above my level of knowledge but he said eh was going to post here for others to see.
A big thanks to him for the help he provided.

RE: MYSQL connections max out and slow down fog server
This is a fresh CentOS install and a fresh fog 1.2 install. Nothing upgraded. On Ubuntu, it was a fresh install of both as well. I’ve made sure too that all passwords are the same as well.

RE: MYSQL connections max out and slow down fog server
Ok, I got CentOS6.5 running, got FOG installed and imported my fog.sql database. The issue returns. 100% CPU usage and become nearly unusable. I have to ask the question I really dont’ want to ask. Is it my imported fog.sql database. I’ve used the same database for years and has nearly a 1000 host entries, over 200 printers configured for installation, over 100 snapin entries applied to countless computers. I really REALLY don’t want to have to recreate my database, that would be a massive amount of work but could my database be the cause? If I stop the mysql service, the computer goes back to normal.

Can't install FOG on CentOS 6.5
Installed CentOS 6.5 and full updates. Went to run the installfog.sh script and I get bash: ./.install.sh Permission Denied.
This was a fresh download of the FOG 1.2 installer files. After getting frustrated i realized that the script is just calling a hidden script in the same bin folder. I may be a novice at linux but should have seen the ‘.’ in front of install.sh and realized it was just the hidden script didn’t have execution permissions. Set it and it works.
Leaving this post in case someone in the future finds it and is helped by it. Such a small thing.

RE: MYSQL connections max out and slow down fog server
I’ll try it now. I know the TFTP issue exists but after I start the service manually, all seems fine.
[[EDIT]]
It was running smoother for several minutes but both CPU cores are at 100% again, inbound connections is up to 250 now with outbound at 150 (outbound was always at 1 before). The web gui is back to being unusable.
I was thinking of going to CentOS. If this issue is specific to Ubuntu, maybe its time to get rid of Ubuntu.

RE: MYSQL connections max out and slow down fog server
I tried the persistent DB option earlier i found on a different thread and that didn’t work. Lokoing at the php session purging fix, this is what my line looks like:
09,39 * * * * root [ -x /usr/lib/php5/maxlifetime ] && [ -x /usr/lib/php5/sessionclean ] && [ -d /var/lib/php5 ] && /usr/lib/php5/sessionclean /var/lib/php5 $(/usr/lib/php5/maxlifetime)
It doesn’t look like the fog wiki page. Should I still change it to match?

MYSQL connections max out and slow down fog server
I’ve been having issues with my fog server since I updated it to 1.2. I was on .32 and did a fresh install and imported my fog.sql database in. It worked for a few days just fine but now it is getting hammered with open connections to the sql database. It’ll hit 150 in no time and that causes my CPU to max out at 100% and the fog server becomes nearly unusable. I’m on a Dell Optiplex 380. Its worked just fine for ages now and nothing on my school site has changed. It has 2 gigs of ram and is running ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
If I restart the mysql service everything immediately clears up, the CPU goes back to near idle and everything is smooth but as soon as mysql starts back up the connections flood in and its back to running like a brick.
I am a linux novice but have been running FOG for about 8 years (version .10 if i recall correctly). I’m about to go to lunch so if I don’t reply quickly, plz forgive me.
i use conky to monitor a few things for quick reference and thats where I see all the connections and my cpu usage maxed. I installed iftop to monitor connections and its just a constant list of the computers connecting to the server.

How do I manually update DNS server
My fog server keeps reverting its DNS address back to 127.0.0.1 and its a major headache. I can rerun the install script but that takes too long. I figure theres an easier way to just edit a file and restart a service. Is that possible or do I really need to rerun the install script over and over when it happens (usually if I have to restart the fog server)?

RE: Kernel for Acer Aspire 722
Ok, I’m doing my best at making my own kernel. I have a problem though. How do I actually put new drivers in the kernel? I hae the Kernel Configuration window open and can see all the places where I can customize things, but not add new drivers.

Kernel for Acer Aspire 722
Has anyone managed to create a kernel that works on an Acer Aspire 722? The machines image but the video is borked and just shows a snowy screen. I’ve looked into creating my own kernel, but I have zero coding knowledge and no clue as to what I’m doing with it.
If you have a working kernel , any chance you’d be willing to share…or if anyone knows how to make kernels and is willing to help me out…that’d be awesome too.

FOG Database merge?
Is it possible to merge two FOG databases? I recently inherited a new school to manage and for some reason that site breaks FOG. Seriously, I have a help thread in the troubleshooting forum about why FOG stops pushing an image almost immediatly, but that is there and we are here. I need to use FOG at that new site so I changed their DHCP server to point to my other FOG server which works great, but I want to take that FOG.SQL file and merge it with my FOG.SQL file. I know I can import the hosts, but I don’t really want to go and have to recreate all the printer and different active directory entries. Is it possible from terminal to use mysql to merge the two?

Image process stops almost instantly after starting
I’ve used FOG for over 5 years now and feel I am quite adept in its function as well as troubleshooting issues with it. I however was brought down recently with an issue I can’t quite figure out. I am trying to download an image to some old Gateway Profile 6 machines and the image download process stops before it even hits 1% completed, usually around the 90meg mark. Same thing happens with Dell 390s and Dell 780s. I reuploaded the image and it goes fine. Just the download process fails. This is driving me nuts as everything seems to work except the most important part, downloading images to new workstations.
I replaced the fog server which was a Dell 780 with a Dell 390. I’m running Ubuntu 12.04 with FOG .32. I have the same machine and versions on my other FOG server (I inherited a new school site to manage. My other school site works perfectly.).
Has anyone had this issue before or know of a possible fix? I’ve used different kernels but at my other site that works fine, the kernel that came with .32 works just fine. I’m at the limit of my frustration level and really need help. I’ll do my best to reply fast, but I’m quite busy getting this new school into proper working order.

RE: Infinite booting loop
i didn’t really understand why you had to change the Default option when you coudl have just modified the Boot from hard disk option. here is what the top of my DEFAULT file looks like:
DEFAULT vesamenu.c32
MENU TITLE FOG Computer Cloning Solution
MENU BACKGROUND fog/bg.png
MENU MASTER PASSWD [S]*********[/S]
\n
menu color title 1;36;44 #ffffffff #00000000 std
\n
LABEL fog.local
kernel chain.c32
append hd0
MENU DEFAULT
MENU LABEL Boot from hard disk
TEXT HELP
Boot from the local hard drive.
If you are unsure, select this option.
ENDTEXT
\n
Seems to be working fine for me now on 790s. Going to have one of the other techs see if it works for 990s too.
