    • RE: Fog Client - Silent Install - With IP Address/other settings?

ganesh, I am not looking for IP address info. I’m looking at how to add the IP address to the fog installer, preferably with a command-line switch.

x23piracy, neat change, but that does not solve the problem. That allows for quicker updates, but still requires the ip address be entered in manually (or via some other means like pushing out the config from a GPO). Otherwise, the client will never connect, at all.

SilentSoul’s method is the best, although those directions are out of date since Winstall LE no longer exists.

    • Fog Client - Silent Install - With IP Address/other settings?

According to the wiki, you can run “setup.exe fog-defaults=true /qb”, which does install the client, but since its the defaults, no IP address is configured. Is there a way to run the silent install and add the IP address? It would be a great bonus to be able to set the other options, as well. I would just like to install the client at the end of my Windows 7 sysprep instead of installing it before deployment.

      Thanks!

    • RE: Support for EFI GPT systems?

It finally works. After completing the steps above, it took booting into a Linux LiveCD (sysrescCD to be exact) and changing the partition table to msdos from GPT with parted. After that, Windows installed and imaged beautifully. Thanks!

Nevermind. I had disabled UEFI options as a whole by pressing F5 on the root menu. I had to disable each device individually with F5 (and then the root menu for good measure).

      Brent,

When you went to install windows after disabling the UEFI boot options, did Windows 7 come up with 2 or 3 partitions?

      Thanks!

FYI, if you build a 2.6.X (in my case, I did 2.6.39.4) and add the networking support for the e1000e card, it will run faster than the 3.2.4 kernel.

I am looking forward to reinstalling windows 7 with your tip. I will keep the forum updated. Thanks!

OK, thanks. Which kernel did you use? 3.2.4?

I am having issues with the same machine (z210). Unfortunately I see NO place to set any UEFI options (short of taking them out of the boot order) and the Sata options are either RAID+SATA or IDE. I set it to IDE and took the UEFI options out of the boot menu, but Win7 still tried to create the 3 partitions.

As an extra note, everything works as expected with Windows XP. What am I missing?

      Thanks,

    • RE: Windows 7 not resizing single partition

I have tried building a custom 2.6.39.4 kernel with the e1000e module for my network card, and I get the same thing as above. I’d really hate to have to move to a commercial solution to deploy these two labs after using and touting FOG for years. Anyone with any ideas? its also happening on a z200.

      Thanks,
      Jesse

    • Windows 7 not resizing single partition

      Hello all,

I have 2 machines that I am working on Windows 7 64bit images for, the HPz210 and z200. I partitioned the hard drives using linux to have one single NTFS partition and installed Windows 7 on the partition. After installing all of my software, I forced a chkdsk, ran it, and then shut the computer down. I am trying to take an image before getting into the MS Office and Win 7 sysprep, just in case.

In fog, I set up an image as Win 7, single paritition NTFS resizeable. I am using the newest kernel fog provides, 3.2.4 Core. The machine boots into FOG wonderfully, does the setup, shows that the resize has tested correctly, states it is resizing the partition, and then starts the upload. However, once the upload starts, it shows the detected file system type as RAW and starts copying over all 250GB of the Hard Drive.

      Any ideas?

Anyone? Is there a better place to post questions like this?

    • RE: Wiki: Troubleshooting an Image Upload

      Blackout,

Using these instructions for kernel 2.6.39.1 Core do not work. The ntfsresize command is in /usr/sbin, not /usr/local/. Also, on step 23, wouldn’t that just be +F without the K? We didn’t modify F be ntfssize / 1000 like we did for N.

      Thanks,
      Jesse

    • User Cleanup - By time instead of logoff?

Is there a way to delete user profiles by date last logged in, instead of automatically at logoff, using the fog client user cleanup? I know you can do it with DelProf, but I like the idea of it being integrated into the tool I am already using (one less thing to manage!)

      Thanks!
