• Partimage not initialising new disk

Hi all,

Something I’ve noticed since upgrading from 0.29 to 1.2 that might be useful for other to know.

If you are utilising a brand new unpartitioned disk then trying to upload an old image under partimage will fail.

Solution for me was to manually partition the disk and try again or move to utilising the new partclone method.

I didn’t have enough time to do full diagnosis on cause of the issue, but have seen this consistently so it seems partimage is failing when it doesn’t find partition table (works fine once partition table created manually).

Cheers,
Allan.

• FOG Inventory fetch monitor details

Hello,

We find FOG very useful for both imaging and keeping an inventory of PC’s.

We would find the inclusion of a monitor model/serial number detection very useful as part of the hardware inventory. It seems that it is possible under linux using techniques like this:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/34467/how-to-get-serial-number-of-my-monitor
https://www.linux.com/community/forums/command-line/find-monitor-model-serial-numbers

Perhaps something simple could be implemented in the next version or if someone already does this another way we would be interested in hearing?

Thanks,
Allan.
