• RE: Is there any overwhelming reason to upgrade to 0.32?

Well, as long as FOG isn’t finished yet (still beta), it’s probably smart to upgrade FOG whenever you can, due to solved stability issues in newer versions. Especially when using FOG in a professional environment. But that’s just my opinion.

I don’t really know what has been updated in 0.31 and 0.32. You should read the release notes.

    • RE: Deleting Images

When you delete the image, FOG automatically removes the ability to select the image from the image-drop-down-menu in the host’s general settings.

As long as you won’t try to deploy an other image or try to upload an image to a (empty) slot, nothing happens to the image or the machine.

    • RE: Noob-proof interface for uploading/deploying
With hooks you will be able to remove any columns you don’t like in tables.

There are lots of changes in 0.33. You will be able to move ‘Upload’ into the advanced menu by altering it’s row in the database.

I have created a new “Task Types” object that will allow you to create other “Tasks” w/ custom code etc

I believe you could use the language files to alter the words “Upload” and “Download”

After 0.33, i want to look at recreating various sections. i.e. deploy will use javascript with real time feedback of progress.

So many ideas, so little time.
Wow! Thanks for the “preview” of .33! I can’t wait to use the new features! Makes it a hell of a lot easier for all the inexperienced interns I’m having over. 😉

      Thanks again!

True that! I’m thinking it’s better to prevent these sort of things than to let people get themselves “in danger” because of their minor handicap. Haha! 😉

    • RE: Using groups like an Organisational Unit in Active Directory

Well okay. Then maybe it’s an option to put a checkbox behind every setting for retaining the setting? (also one at the top for disabling or enabling all of the checkboxes) This would make it much easier for a couple of sys-admins I guess.

    • Using groups like an Organisational Unit in Active Directory

The first time I used the groups, I was astonished that the settings didn’t stay in the group.

Would it be possible that we can pre-configure a group, put hosts in there and they take over the properties of the group, without having to reconfigure the group every time you put another computer in it?

Due to me being Dutch, it’s possible that my explanation isn’t that great. So if there are any questions, feel free to ask!

    • Noob-proof interface for uploading/deploying

      Hi there.

I’ve got the brilliant idea to put the “Upload” -button from “basic tasks” under the “Advanced tasks” -menu.

Also I had the idea to create some more noob-proof icons for the deployment button and the upload button. They pretty much look the same and are therefor easy to be mistaken for each other.

The picture I have made in Visio is probably not that great as I imagined. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks a billion for letting me use this great product!!! It has already saved sooo much time for me!
the script in the original guide has been updated to use Net Stop FOG Service at the beginning and NET Start FOG Service are you using that scipt? that eliminates the issue of the fog client restarting the pc
This solution would be even better!

    • RE: Windows 7 and SetupComplete.cmd

You can do so by installing the FOG Client after the SetupComplete.cmd has finished. Maybe even integrating the service into SetupComplete.cmd will do the trick. You can copy the config file (c:\program files\fog\etc\config.ini) that contains the FOG-server’s hostname in the default directory after the (silent) execution of the setup. This also has to be done in the SetupComplete.cmd to make the install completely unattended.
