    • Have to rebuild FOGBOX, need advice.

I initially started with Ubuntu 12.04 as the OS and then upgraded to 13.10. For whatever reason, it pooched my permissions on the OS and I think this might be the source of a lot of problems I’m having PXE booting. I have tried all the troubleshooting articles and still nothing fixed it, so when I went to reinstall the FOG software, I got errors saying I don’t have permissions to write to the OPT directory.

So I am going to break down and rebuild the machine again. What Ubuntu OS would you all recommend using? I know that 14.x is showing bugs with TFTP again, so I am not using it. Thanks for your suggestions.

    • RE: FOG not PXE boot anymore

@Wayne-Workman Looked at the list. here is the model machine I am using.

      HP EliteBook 2760p ✔ Default bzImage undionly.kpxe 2014-06-13

I am using this model. and another which is a desktop

      HP Compaq 6200 Pro – 0.32 – 2011-08-04

neither works. Previously, tboth of these I was able to PXE boot into the kernel, make an image, push an image. Now I cannot.

Edit: I don’t want to quite Fog, and sorry if I came off as being not nice. I had no malice, just frustration. I appreciate everyone who has been helping me.

@Wayne-Workman Hey I tried booting from another device and I finally got the error to pause. This is what it shows.IMG_0669[1].JPG

I went to that URL, but I am not really sure how to update this?

O.k. I have verified that my TFTP service is running and is configured correctly. I even reinstall. 1.2.0 FOG just a few moments ago and it confirmed that settings were set correctly. I can login to the management portal without issues. The only thing that it’s doing is the same thing as yesterday, and that is saying that something is unsupported, which I cannot even read it goes by so fast.

I’m stumped and frankly, I am about to the point of giving up on this project. I really don’t want o because the web interface and other things are nice.

@Wayne-Workman I used the command prompt. I got a transfer successful message when I ran the following command. tftp x.x.x.x get undionly.kxpe

      What’s next to try?

@ch3i There is no option for that in the drop down. I’m using what appears to be the latest version. There is FTP, SFTP, SCP and WebDAV.

    • RE: FOG not PXE boot anymore

@ch3i How do you verify these options? I mean is this something I should be able to access from the web portal or the server directly and if so where exactly?

What I do know is that I went through the entire setup and did give my server a fixed IP. I’ve PXE booted before and deployed and captured images, but now all of a sudden I cannot.

well, our DNS servers changed. also DHCP. But again, it’s showing that it’s getting an IP address when it first begins the PXE.

    • FOG not PXE boot anymore

I am running FOG 1.2.0 on Ubuntu 13.10. I previously was able to capture and image and deploy one. That was about 2 months ago.

I tried to PXE boot today, and the client gets an IP address, and it starts initializing, but then something pops up really fast, so fast that I cannot pause the screen fast enough with an error that says:

      Unable to download…unsupported

Then it exits the PXE screen.

Wow that was easy…need to explore the web interface more it seems
FYI, prior to FOG I used Novell Zenworks, which is another linux based imaging system. So trying to learn new ways. 🆒

    • PXE Boot automatically selecting Boot From Hard Disk

I am new to FOG first off. I did a search on here but didn’t find anything.

My issue is that when my computers are booting into PXE, the FOG screen comes up, but without any input from me, it automatically selects Boot From Hard Disk. Basically, I have to start hitting the up and down arrows to get control of this screen or it will continue to boot from hard disk.

How can I stop FOG from automatically selecting this? thanks in advance!
