• RE: Dell Optiplex 7010

I know this is an old Post, but I had the same issue with the HP 6305’s and their unfriendlyness with fog.
After wasting a week on research and different kernels, rolling back bios etc, here is what I found to work:

Ubuntu 12.04 with fog .32, running kernel 3.8.8
had to reformat the hdd with a NON hp Windows 7 disk and once the computer came up, I rebooted from the non HP Disk and followed these instructions:

http://superuser.com/questions/642420/tools-to-convert-gpt-to-mbr-without-access-to-an-os

I did that for the initial image, or golden image as some call it, and after that every computer has imaged perfectly, and very quickly.

Hope that helps!

• RE: FOG not compatible with BIOS Driver

I am quite new to Linux, can you go through the steps to install or upload a new kernel?

• FOG not compatible with BIOS Driver

I am running Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit Desktop with FOG .32 on a Dell Server with 4 gigs of ram and 1.5 TB of drive space.

I am attempting to image an HP pro 6305, Windows 7 64bit, Multiple partition image, single disk, not re sizable and am running into an issue, I believe has to do with the BIOS. There is an image that scrolls quickly up the screen when I am going to image a new computer. My upload appears to take, but when I go to push out the image to a newly registered PC (Full register), the task fails to run.
I attempted to update the BIOS on the computer, which it was already the most current BIOS.
The Kernel on my FOG server is 2.6.32-55-generic. Is there a better kernel to update or downgrade to? is there something else that appears to be incorrect?

• RE: Win7 Image does not Upload!

Factory image right out of the box from HP failed to work as well. for some reason saw the disk as 158 Gig image.

It was recommended to re-install FOG all together on another blog, would hate to do that but if that is what’s necessary.

with that being said, I will try to image another desktop right out of the box to see if it uploads to see if that is the answer to this issue since I did a clean install for the first one. I will follow up once i find out

I’m having the same issue. Had a group of laptops that worked just fine, now the Desktops I am imaging are not “sticking” to the server. In other words it appears that the image is uploading to my FOG server, however when I go to image the next PC, it take 2 seconds and says it is complete. The image appears to be there according to the web GUI, and I have selected “Multiple Partitions” for a windows 7 image, and I even watch the size of the “Used” portion of my server increase on the “Home” page of my server. But when the image is finished uploading, it appears to wipe the server of that image completely. I’m using .32 FOG on 10.04 Ubuntu (as I was told 10.04 is the most fog friendly)
