For the time being, I just need to mass deploy ONE single image to 300+ clients. Clients which I do not have their mac addresses to pre-register.

RE: Capone and Multicasting not possible?
Hey Tom, I’m sorry if I am being such a drag. I really don’t know what the fuck I’m doing. I’m a hardware guy and all of this is out of my league.
In a few weeks time I will image 300+ client machines. It will be a one off thing. I would like to image around 20 at a time. I am currently testing my setup in the lab. It works with single imaging. Takes about 2 minutes to download the image. I went into the multicast settings and I wanted to test imaging 3 machines (but only 2 at a time). This is not working. It begins imaging all 3 simultaneously and the download process becomes very VERY slow.
I do not have the mac address for all the machines for me to preload onto the server. And having to register every machine with the server before imaging is not a viable option. Capone works just fine to deploy one image tied to a DMI, but without the multicast option, I can’t imagine deploying 20 machines at a time.
Once I’m done with the 300+ machines, the server will go back to the lab to image 1 at a time.

Capone and Multicasting not possible?
I’ve been working on this imaging server to deploy 300+ clients. They all have the exact same hardware. Someone suggested I used Capone Plugin to deploy my image and use the DMI to identify it. That way I don’t have to register all of my clients beforehand.
I have come to an issue that I didn’t consider before: multicasting. Capone doesn’t support it. Imaging 3 clients at a time is taking significantly longer than what it would take on a multicast. And even then, if I set a limit to a max of, say 2 hosts at a time, it completely ignores this limit.
Is there a way I can force feed an image to anybody that will connect to server and keep the multicast functionality?

RE: Make "Capone Deploy" the first option in PXE Boot Menu
Alright, I don’t know what I did, but I think that clicking the “Save Changes” in the General Settings window added the fog.capone item to my iPXE Menu items. I think it is working now.

i configure Capone in the plugin management page.

RE: Make "Capone Deploy" the first option in PXE Boot Menu
Tom,
I’ve done this a few times and I can’t seem to get it to work. I even uninstalled Capone, disabled plugins, and then proceeded to upgrade to SVN. Reenabled the Plugin system, reinstalled Capone, reconfigured it. Nothing. I check inside MySQL and I see the Capone table installed. (I also checked that it had been cleared when I unintalled Capone).
Plugins are enabled.
Capone is installed.
Capone is configured with DMI and Image.fog.capone is not in iPXE Menu Configuration. And I don’t see Capone Deploy as an option during a host bootup.
I could add the menu item manually, but I don’t know the correct parameters for Capone.
I’m doing this based on your recommendation to upgrade to SVN to show Capone as the First Option in the Boot Menu.

RE: Make "Capone Deploy" the first option in PXE Boot Menu
Should I uninstall the plugin before I upgrade to SVN?

RE: Make "Capone Deploy" the first option in PXE Boot Menu
It was installed before I upgraded to SVN. I removed it, and installed it again, but it ain’t coming up on PXE Menu options.

RE: Make "Capone Deploy" the first option in PXE Boot Menu
Tom,
I upgraded to SVN and the server is up an running (ran into a few issues with passwords again). But I can’t seem to be able to add Capone into the Boot menu. I don’t have fog.capone as an option either. How can I manually add fog.capone? What are the necessary parameters?

RE: Make "Capone Deploy" the first option in PXE Boot Menu
Cool, I will make a copy of my VM and try to upgrade.

RE: Make "Capone Deploy" the first option in PXE Boot Menu
I was afraid you were going to say that. Is it possible to upgrade my current installation to SVN? Or would I need to start again from scratch?

Make "Capone Deploy" the first option in PXE Boot Menu
Is there a way to make Capone Deploy the first option in the Boot Menu Sequence?

RE: Autoimage Machines, possible?
Alright, I’m flooding this thread but I think I finally got it working. I went through other posts here on the forums and notice that other people also had 0.00 iB info on their uploaded images, and they also were unable to copy from /images/dev/ to /images automatically. On one of your posts you mentioned that the image upload is first done via NFS, but the via FTP you do the relocation.
This got me thinking and I assumed that something was wrong with the FTP password. I simply ran sudo passswd fog and changed the password. Then via the Web GUI on 2 places: Storage management and Fog Settings.
I then hunted down the Config.class.php file and updated the password there too.
It is working now. I am testing a few wipes and reimages to confirm.

RE: Autoimage Machines, possible?
Quick question. Should the image reside in the root of /images/ with a name of <imagename>.000, or should it be inside its own folder named <imagename> and have the original filename of <macadress>.000 ?
I currently have it as the second option.

RE: Autoimage Machines, possible?
This is the error that I am getting:

RE: Autoimage Machines, possible?
I reuploaded the image with the same result. Nothing is created in the /images/<imagepath> automatically. I manually copy the <macaddress>.000 to /images/<imagepathname> and it still shows as size 0.00 iB on the server itself.

RE: Autoimage Machines, possible?
If it’s of any information, when I list the images via the web manager, the image is shown as 0.00 iB on both Client and Server

RE: Autoimage Machines, possible?
I had to restart tftpd. I manually moved the image file to the correct folder. I still get “Cannot find XP Image File”
