• PXE boot but no DHCP offers (with interface eth1)

I have a new fog install (1.5.1 on Ubuntu 16.04). It is running standalone (DHCP, PXE integrated) on a simple LAN with a single Dell Powerconnect 5448 switch. I have portfast enabled on all the ports.

I am using a Dell 780 for a test client. It will PXE boot but once I make a menu selection (Full Inventory etc) it comes back with an error it is not getting any DHCP offers.

However when I boot the same machine into windows it is picking up the dhcp information correctly.

I did have to correct some things on the server due to the way the newer distro’s assign interface names i.e. Names incorporating Firmware/BIOS provided index numbers for on-board devices (example: eno1) rather than eth1

I did notice the PXE message mentioned it was trying to address eth1. Could that be the issue and where do I need to change the PXE config to correct it if so?

Thanks for the attention to this matter,
GP

• New Issue with Fog 1.2.0 and iPXE boot

I have a Fog 1.2.0 install that was working.

It is running on “precise1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 30 17:39:31 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux”
It was not used for several months and I made some infrastructure changes i.e moved from W2k3 to 2012 for our DC and DHCP. All the DHCP server settings look correct.

However when I try to iPXE boot machines that were working I get

tftp://<ip address>/%20undionly.kpxe … no such file of directory
Note the %20 in the URL

I can ftp undionly.kpxe from the fog server

When I go to http://<ip address>/fog/service/ipxe/boot.php
I see the correct text for my boot menu. I have not made any changes to the menu that was working

I think I am missing a fog configuration variable and that is why I am getting the %20

It has to be something simple I am missing. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can check next?

Thanks for your attention to this matter,

• FOG Newbie - Snapin Problem

Just starting to use FOG again after a number of years. I am trying to get a snapin to deploy VMWare Workstation 10 to a number of Win7 x64 machines. Not really anything complex just install, with license key. Sad but just dumping and importing the reg section with the key doesn’t seem to work.

The silent install snippet is

I created a snapin and uploaded the installer which seems to work. The problem comes with setting the Snapin Arguments: to /s /v EULAS_AGREED=1 SERIALNUMBER=“xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx”

I can paste it in and update the snap in but it appears to cut of after SERIAL NUMBER=

Not sure if I am hitting the char limit or I am trying to put it in the WRONG place. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Its been a while since I was responsiable for having to image computers and alot has changed since XP!
