RE: Which Linux distro(s) have been tested with FOG - What is recommended?
@wayne-workman i managed to go from 16 to 18 (server) fine… but when i tried to go 18 to 20 it all went wrong so just rolled the VM back. i will when 18 falls out of support do what Seb suggests and move the images over and the DB to a fresh install… after all my VM started life as v 14 of ubuntu so probably due a fresh install.

RE: Fog node - exec format error, chainloading failed
@Gordon-Taylor ignore me… ive just reinstalled fog and mine is fine now… the mysql bug as mentioned at the begining of the thread

RE: Fog node - exec format error, chainloading failed
i think this is the same error as mine that started yesterday and it happened after i did a apt-get upgrade… i noticed at the end of the upgrade i has these lines:
NOTICE: Not enabling PHP 7.1 FPM by default.
NOTICE: To enable PHP 7.1 FPM in Apache2 do:
NOTICE: a2enmod proxy_fcgi setenvif
NOTICE: a2enconf php7.1-fpm
NOTICE: You are seeing this message because you have apache2 package installed.ive just switched my fog server off as its stoping the workstations to boot and i cant stay late to troubleshoot it today… but i can tomorrow…

upgrading ubuntu from 14.04.6 LTS to 16.04.6 LTS and on?
my fog server (1.5.5.3) runs in a hyper-v VM and the /images are mounted on a separate disk to the VHDX that contains the ubuntu OS so i will easily be able to back it up before i try doing the release update… but I’m just looking for any pointers or anything i may need to do once i got the Ubuntu up to the next LTS. I’m just conscious 14 is only in support till this April. Also should i go on and and go up to the 18 LTS?

RE: where has the reset encryption data button gone?
this is the first new computer i have added to fog since i updated it from 1.5.5 to 1.5.5.3 don’t know if that is helpful… i am not sure if we have re-imaged something between either… cause i updated fog last week when i was patching everything…

where has the reset encryption data button gone?
in Fog 1.5.5.3
i’m getting could not get security token and i know in the past i’ve had to reset the encryption data to get the fog client make the machine join the domain.

RE: rEFInd reboots instead of loading windows
@wayne-workman it was really just the first but the scan_delay line seemed to fix it… but whats odd is i know there was a 5 second delay before i upgraded fog cause id see it say so on the workstations… and they booted fine until after the upgrade.
-
RE: rEFInd reboots instead of loading windows
@tom-elliott Thanks that does seem to have done the trick
-
RE: rEFInd reboots instead of loading windows
ok i did have a 1703 image but it does similar now it reboots then drops through to automatic repair blue screen in this case (but then its a sealed sysprep image - rather than a image that has been through the whole process) - if i pull the lan out to let it finish the windows setup then the behaviour is the same as 1709 - reboot then next time sat on preparing automatic repair splash screen.
i also have slightly different behaviour from NUC6i5SYK which doesn’t reboot but just sits with the windows logo on the screen and doesn’t boot up (no disk activity) again saying preparing automatic repair
i think there is a message from rEFInd but it flashes to quickly is there a way to interactively watch that step by step by editing refind.conf?
of course if you pull the LAN cable out so it doesn’t network boot they all boot fine.

RE: rEFInd reboots instead of loading windows
ok there isn’t anything in the apache log (/var/log/apache2/error.log) unless i change it to debug then there is lots but nothing that looks bad

some of the workstations after rebooting once then get stuck with the windows boot splash screen and saying Perpairing Automatic Repair at the bottom… almost like its maybe booting the recovery partition… but its not doing anything no disk activity just stuck untill rebooted…
the only os I’ve tried so far is Win10 1709 i think i might have a uefi 1607 or 1703 image i can try see if it happens across different host oses…

rEFInd reboots instead of loading windows
on Friday i upgraded Fog to 1.5.0 from i think 1.5.0 RC12 and since then the Intel NUCs i have that are UEFI boot have now started rebooting instead of loading windows after rEFInd. i don’t know if its all my UEFI clients yet as i’ve disabled the Network booting on the main LAN whilst i troubleshoot it.
I have tried from the backups that appear in the home/user folder replacing a few things, I’ve replaced /var/www/html/fog/service/ipxe both refind.conf and refind.efi
i’ve also tried using the tftp.previous instead of tftp encase it was iPXE
but it doesn’t make a difference.a couple of NUCs that are experiancing this D54250WYK and NUC5i5RYK
