    • RE: FOG 1.5.4 Multicast sessions immediately end.

      @tom-elliott Here to report that the working branch appears to have fixed the issue. Currently have two clients imaging off of a multicast.

      As a continuation of this: Are there any known things you’ve broken in the working path that means I shouldn’t just update my production server with it and have the added ease of functional Multicast?(Yes, I understand its the working path and no promises can be made, just asking if there’s any known issues. 🙂

      Sounds good. I’ll get working on that and let you know what I find.

      @tom-elliott Since I just rebuilt one of my physical machines(thanks unnamed agency for delaying my harddrive order for 3 months and causing my RAID to fail) I can probably throw up another virtual server and try the working branch. Never used it though, get it through Github also? If I clone my current VM, can I just upgrade it with the working branch?

      Just chiming in here that I also have this problem with a new FOG server install. Multicasts instantly end as soon as they’re started. For me not a huge issue, as I’m usually only imaging 20ish computers at a time, but it’s definitely not a problem isolated to @Solkre.

    • RE: could not mount /dev/sda1/

      I can’t see your screen shot, but I had a problem with a similar error message yesterday. Turns out it was because I had moved my image folder and missed one of the configs you have to change. Searching the forum should being up numerous other threads with that error message, I’d try some of those fixes.

    • RE: 503 Service Unavailable Error

      @george1421 I originally didn’t follow your guide to install and activate fpm, I had assume it was default. Once I followed the guide(not without cursing and much looking up of VIM guides), and got it installed and activated my web interface came back up and my clients waiting to image started communicating with FOG again.

      I’m still not 100% that it’s fixed or if the last step(restarting PHP and Apache) simply reset the problem and it’s going to reappear in a few hours. I’ve been watching it run for 45 mins or so now and it at least appears to be stable. But we’ll see if it completes overnight or not.

      Just wish I had remote capability so I could monitor from home instead of having to come to the office.

    • RE: 503 Service Unavailable Error

      @tom-elliott Alright. Some progress. I found the step I missed. I assumed that fpm was default, but I see now that @george1421 had people follow his steps to get it installed. I’ve got it installed now and when I restarted apache and php as part of that process magically everything is working again. For the moment. But now I sit and watch computers image for the next 5+ hours to see if they start erroring again.

      @tom-elliott Ubuntu 16.04. In var/log/ I have a file php7.1-fpm.log, but there’s no php-fpm directory, and no www-error.log that I can find.

      So after reading the whole thread, I’m not entirely sure my issue is the same. I can’t find the log files for fpm. I don’t know if that’s because I’m being stupid(Not a pro with Linux by any stretch) or if my issue is unrelated. Pretty frustrated at the moment.

      So I’m also having this problem. I think. I thought it was working fine after the update, having done several unicast images in the process of updating the image I use. However today when I started doing a push to 20 computers I’ve had numerous issues. Currently trying a couple of the recommended fix’s here to see if I can get back up and running.

    • RE: Attempted Multicast Broke it

      I just found this thread: https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/11713/503-service-unavailable-error/40 I’m going to try some of that stuff and see what happens.

    • RE: Attempted Multicast Broke it

      So I’m getting lots of errors in the Apache Log. Here’s an example:

      [Sat May 05 04:24:15.768262 2018] [proxy:error] [pid 9948] (110)Connection timed out: AH00957: FCGI: attempt to connect to 127.0.0.1:9000 (*) failed
      [Sat May 05 04:24:15.768405 2018] [proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 9948] [client 10.10.0.121:46478] AH01079: failed to make connection to backend: 127.0.0.1

      I don’t have any idea what I’m looking at/for though. The web management interface is down again and I’m getting a 503 Service unavailable error splash on that. The computers that are mid image appear to be continuing uninterupted, but the others are popping up with the same error as the web management does.

      Anyone with any ideas?

      So it’s back to broke. I’m getting ready to dig farther into it I guess, because I need to have it working tonight. I’ll start grabbing screenshots and the such and post them here when I have them.

      Here’s to a long night.

      So while I was waiting I ran the installer on the off chance it would fix itself. It did. I can access the web management again. The multicast still isn’t working. However I canceled it and am now doing unicasts 10 at a time. Inelegant, but it works. I’ll troubleshoot more later when I don’t have new students coming in the next 48.

    • Attempted Multicast Broke it

      This afternoon I attempted to push a multicast to a group. None of the computers seems to be able to connect. They would wake on lan, but then would hang loading the boot. So I decided to try to just cancel it(saw some comments on the forum about MultiCast being brokenish ATM). But now I can’t access the web interface. I get a “Gateway Timeout
      The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.” error when I try.

      And of course I’m working on a timeline. Anyone have any idea what would have caused this / how to fix it? I’ve tried a simple reboot a couple times, and it doesn’t seem to fix the problem.

      Philip

      Edit: Sorry, more information that would be helpful: This is the first multi cast I’ve attempted since I updated to the latest FOG a week or two ago. I have done unicasts several times as I was working on developing a new image and successfully pushed several in that process. Its running on Ubuntu server, updates current.

    • RE: Unattend Local Admin Account isn't part of Administrators

      So I found the problem. It was a PEBCAK issue. Essentially I had also instituted a group policy restricting membership of the Local Admin group and had forgotten to add my locally created admin to the group policy. So as soon as it created the user and got domained it immediately removed it from the admin group.

      Luckily I had a USB with Kali on it laying around so I just hopped on and elevated privilege on a user so I could fix the problem that had arose.

      Sorry for wasting the communities time.

    • Unattend Local Admin Account isn't part of Administrators

      So the unattend you all helped me create is working well and making our life much easier, thank you!

      However, today a user helped me discover a problem. My custom local admin account for some reason isn’t accepting the Administrator group. My account add portion of the unattend is:

      <UserAccounts>
      <LocalAccounts>
      <LocalAccount wcm:action=“add”>
      <Password>
      <Value>notmypassword</Value>
      <PlainText>false</PlainText>
      </Password>
      <Description>Admin Account</Description>
      <DisplayName>Admin</DisplayName>
      <Group>Administrators</Group>
      <Name>localadmin</Name>
      </LocalAccount>
      </LocalAccounts>
      </UserAccounts>

      Anyone have any idea why it wouldn’t be a member of the Administrator group?

      Thanks,

      Philip

    • RE: Windows Image Hangs on Boot

      Just a status report for those interested. I did get a functional image going, and it seems to have resolved the issues. However I was never able to get the Setupcomplete to run, however I added a first logon addition to the unattend calling that script specifically and now it works.

      Next on my to do list is getting a driver package put together for the laptops so they have the most up to date drivers installed on boot.

      Thanks for all your help, and we can probably mark this as ‘solved’, but I don’t know how to do that…

    • RE: Windows Image Hangs on Boot

      @george1421 It was an ISO for Pro that I pulled off the Microsoft site. The SetupComplete is at this exact path:

      c:\Windows\Setup\Scripts\SetupComplete.cmd

      Contents of it is:

      sc config FOGService start= auto
      netsh wlan add profile filename=“c:\Image\Wi-Fi-RTI-25B.xml”
      shutdown -t 0 -r

      Do you see anything obvious?

      @tom-elliott Pro, I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to tell you the version number, I don’t have a machine at home tonight.
