• Sudden infinite reboot on PXE boot

Hi to the community. Today, 5 of my 400 machines couln’t boot from PXE.

1. they pass the DCHP call
2. then I get the “configuring net ( macadress )” step
3. then they reboot and get to the 1.

The strange thing is that I don’t make changes on the FOG server (1.2.0) or on the machines. And they booted perfectly til today. ( and no other machine has this issue ).

they are all Lenovo M70 ( but 1 other don’t have this problem )

Is anyone of you have an idea …

• RE: Low speed and ARP timeout while multicasting

Thank you Jaymes for your answer, I see there is plenty of messages claiming the team’s help on the forum and it’s not the best part of the job to answer and debug users … but it’s the price of fame.;)
I understand you want to claim it is a bug and you want us to fix it. But do some work first, test on and off your network.
I have to say, my point was not to blame FOG, I never thought the cause was the program.
You know, I’m just a teacher who is in charge ( with small time … ) of the network of my college ( nearly 400 Pcs ), and I just want with my poor knowledges to learn how it works and how it can works better !
For sure, using FOG is already a great gain of time and headache for me and I thank you guys again.

So, I will investigate my network as you told me and give feedback as i can.

• Low speed and ARP timeout while multicasting

Hi folks, I tried multicast 5 machines this afternoon ( FOG 1.1.1 ) and it worked.
They all get renamed and joined to the domain after imaging, that is really cool for me !
but I have some issues :

• When I download 1 image in unicast , the speed is around 1.5 Gb/min, but my 5 machines were less than 300 Mb/min in multicast ( as far as I’m a newbie ( and not a professional IT ! ) , I was thinking the multicast speed would not be divided by the number of machines …
• More annoying, I’ve got a lot of PXE-11 error and ARP timeout with others machine on the network while booting.
( that disappear after the end of downloads )
So I suspect a sort of overload of the server’s connections ?

I’ve read some threads about these errors, understood the concept of " a chain is not stronger than the weaker link" and I have to check my switch’s configuration ( even if I don’t really know how to do that… ) and patches

But maybe somenone has an idea

PS : excuse my poor english, I’m french …

• RE: Fog 1.1.0 multicast sits at "Starting to restore image (-) to device (/dev/sda1)

Hi, I reinstalled fog_1.1.1 and tried again : multicast ok on my virtual network.
I will try next week with multicasting 15 real machines on W7

Thanks again for your work.

I uploaded svn 1817 and then try to update, but I’m stuck in the database update/install process.
When I click on update, I’ve got a blank screen( no error ) with the tittle
Database Schema Installer / Updater

. Did I miss something ?

Hi, first of all I’d like to say I’m a new but happy user of Fog.
I’ve got the same Multicast problem with both of my networks :

• the test one with a VMWare Debian 7 machine
• the real physical one with a FOGserver on Debian 7 too.

I hope we’ll find the answer

Best regards to the developpers
