    • Issue with the "Deploy Image" option

      Hey All,

I am having an issue with my current FOG setup that just somehow broke in the last day or so. We are currently on 1.4.4. Everything has been working great, but just today the “Deploy Image” option returns this error:

      http://ipaddress/fog/service/ipxe/boot.php... ok
      Unrecognised option "-W"
      Usage:

        item [-m:--menu <menu>] [-k:--key <key>] [-d:--default] [-g:--gap] [<label> [<text>]]

      see http://ipxe.org/cmd/item for further information
Could not boot: Invalid argument (http://ipxe.org/1c162202)
Could not boot: Invalid argument (http://ipxe.org/1c162202)
Chainloading failed, hit 's' for the iPXE shell; reboot in 10 seconds

      Any ideas on this one?

      Thanks!

    • RE: Fog "Deploy Image" Menu Reorder

@Wayne-Workman Thanks for the response. I ended up renumbering the image name to include 01. through 14 and that did sort them. I appreciate the quick thinking and that fixes my issue!

    • Fog "Deploy Image" Menu Reorder

      Hey Developers,

I was wondering if there is a way to reorder the images list by number on the FOG menu and put dashes in between groups of images to make it look cleaner. It does it alphabetically and it looks like my images are all over the place. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I looked at this and didn’t really know where to start: https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/12745/sort-fog-image-menu

      Thanks,

@george1421 I updated the firmware just yesterday which is what allowed me to boot from pxe. Before it wouldn’t even register that the surface adapter was bootable.

Yes I have, all of those links are purple because I have gone to them at some point.

    • Surface Pro 4 with FOG 1.5.4 6078

      Hey All,

I have looked on countless posts about these Surface Pro’s and FOG and everyone else seems to be able to get these working except for me. I keep getting stuck on the “init.xz…” and it just freezes. As stated in my title, I have FOG 1.5.4- 6078. I have the newest kernels that are available (4.18.3) and have tried certain ones from the forums that have pushed me further, but still won’t complete. I have tried using the ipxe7156.efi and that doesn’t work either.

I am using the Microsoft Surface Pro dongle version 1821 and from what I read, people have not been having good luck with it. I have added the host manually, added the “host kernel arguments” of “has_usb_nic=1”.

I guess I am not sure what else to try. I am getting quite a few of these that are coming in and I really need a solution so that I don’t have to do all of the imaging by hand.

      Thanks!

@george1421 I think we did have our wires crossed 🙂 I will go ahead and set this up right now. Since I won’t be good at reading it correctly, where could I send it?

@george1421 and I should say…it isn’t impossible, but it wouldn’t be very fun to setup I guess

    • RE: TFTP Open Timeout Issues

@george1421 That is unfortunately not possible. The way our network is setup, this school is one of the many that we take care. We have 2 routers in the fold and one is a virtualized pfsense that has this “servers (fog being one of them) vlan” that is routed from their firewall to us. The other router is sitting right here in the next room where I am. This router points to the other to see that “server vlan”.

I know this sounds confusing, but it is only a virtualized VLAN we use for VSphere as this FOG server is Virtual.

@george1421 No they are not, they are on different subnets, but the other schools are as well and they don’t have this issue

    • TFTP Open Timeout Issues

      Hey All,

I am getting a TFTP Open timeout error and it is making me spin my wheels. I am running Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS with FOG 1.5.0. On 2 of my sites, it works beautifully except for the high school and it is almost like it isn’t pulling the file.

Per the instructions on the TFTP open timeout troubleshooting, I have testing tftp from my windows laptop and I was able to download the undionly.kpxe file and I was also able to do it from the FOG server.

I have also set the chmod R 777 for the /tftpboot folder and that hasn’t done anything either.

I am running these computers on Cisco Switches and spanning-tree portfast is enabled on the port. So are some other security features like bpduguard and things like that. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not.

Any help would be much appreciated!

@george1421 each site currently doesn’t have its own subnet. It will change. It is company name: contoso.com -> Location of office, California -> business office.

      Something like that.

@george1421 I guess I could look at that as well. I just want the easiest way to do it I guess. (Even though it won’t be super easy 🙂 )
