• RE: Attempting To Send Inventory - Invalid Host?

i tried to manually import a host. that was successful but when i look at the host list the one i just imported is not there and when i reboot the system it still shows as not being registered.

i also cant update to the latest trunk as sourceforge is still having issues. this is of course happening at the worst possible time. I work in a school and we have multiple staff and classrooms that need to be imaged asap.

is there anything i can do to get this working?

• RE: Attempting To Send Inventory - Invalid Host?

I am getting similar errors, invalid host and the white screen.

I am on svn 3781, ubuntu 14.04.2

some additional info. I was trying to upload an image from my imaging vm which has been registered since i setup the server. I scheduled the task but the system didnt boot to the network (its a vm and boot settings got cleared for some reason) so after setting it to boot to network again i let it boot up but the task didnt start. I looked at the task list in fog and i saw the task listed so i rebooted again and the process didnt start so i looked at the tasks again and it was no longer listed. i went to recreate the upload task but the host had disappeared. I looked at the image that had been assigned to that host and the host was still listed but when i clicked on it i got the blank white screen. I tried to re-register the host which failed with the invalid host error, i was using the same name for hte host so i tried registering with a different name which also failed.

I havent updated to the latest svn yet. let me know what if any additional info is needed.

Thanks!

• svn version strangeness

hello,

i setup a new fog server today so i could install it on a newer OS (ubuntu 14.04.2). The setup and restoring of fog from my previous server all went well. after the restore completed i updated to the most recent trunk (3696) or so i thought. at the cli it tells me i have checked out revision 3696. In the webui it says i have version 3695, under FOG Configuration, on the login screen it lists 3696. Any ideas why there is a discrepancy?

Thanks,
Belac

• Win7 image timezone issue

Hello Everyone,

I am running fog 1.2 and creating an image from a VM (vmware). Right now i have a vm with everything installed that i want, i take a snapshot after doing things like windows updates then i run sysprep it reboots and the schdeuled upload task for Fog runs to capture the image. Everything seems to be working well except when I push the image out to a system I see a message displayed when i open the “date & time” window which says “your current time zone is not recognized. Please select a valid time zone”. When i open command line and run tzutil /g it says my timezone is set to “pacific standard time”. In the unattend file in step 4 - specialize, i have “timezone” set to “Pacific Standard Time” and “DisableAutoDaylightTimeSet” set to “false”.

Any ideas why the time zone is not being set properly and what i can change to correct it? seems like it must be something with my unattend.xml file but i dont know what it could be. Let me know if you guys want me to post it for review.

i was able to resolve the issue. for some reason it did not like the “Computers” container in AD. I had to make a separate OU and it is now working consistently.

Thanks for all the help.

• RE: Join domain after image task - issues

when i check the box in the menu (main>host>choose host>active directory) to “join domain after image task” it populates the global settings which are in ‘fog settings’ so I don’t understand where the disconnect is. the machines are all the exact same model, same domain being joined, and same location (at my desk) at the moment.

Is there a way to re-run the join domain task without pushing the image again (and so i dont have to walk around later to join them to domain)?

• Join domain after image task - issues

Hello,

I am hoping you guys can help me resolve some intermittant issues. It took me quite some time getting sysprep configured the way i want. The end goal is to be able to push an image to a system and when the process is finished it would be at the login screen and the user would login with their domain credentials and away they could go.

Currently when i create a task and the image download completes sysprep runs. the system will autologin under the local admin account then reboot after a couple minutes then autologin to the admin account again then reboot. If all goes well it then boots to the login screen. This has worked on two machines.

I just started deployment on another desktop and the image downloads and it auto logs in to the admin account then nothing. It did rename the computer properly but didnt join domain. At the end of the fog log is “error code: 2” Here is a snippet for the fog.log. There is another error “error: 2692” which i believe just means that thesystem is not joined to the domain. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa370674(v=vs.85).aspx Are there logs anywhere else i could pull to get more details about why its not completing the join domain process?

i saw another post that menitoned AD path not being correct. I know it is since it has worked on anther system.

Any ideas what the problem is?

any ideas where i could find a log of why the connection is failing for this vm? it has worked on this vm in the past.

i ran the re-install of fog and pxe booting is working again. strangely enough the tftp test on the server still fails as does the client side test.

I will ignore it for now unless you think it will cause me headaches down the road.

tftpd-hpa is running. service --status-all shows it and i restarted it and it started without error.

the tftp test is still failing on the server but i am getting a different error on the client side.

when it tries to boot it references the old IP. I have gone through all the settings in the webui and .fogsettings. where else can it be pulling the old IP from?
