Auto Display List of Host/Groups/Images
I know it is a small thing however I was wondering would it be possible to have FOG display the list of all Hosts, Groups, and Images when you open up the corresponding management.
Example would be when you click on Host Management icon you are presented with a List of all available Hosts. It could include the search bar located on top with the ability to narrow the list down using a search.
If it is possible to do this already then how would I go about doing this?Thank you

RE: Make Host direct boot into a advanved menu entry? Executable by WebIf as Task
Hello,
I would be interested in doing something similar. In my case I would like to be able to have a registered client boot from a bootable iso when told instead of booting directly to the hard drive.
Example:
Machine A told to boot to B.iso
Machine A wakes up over LAN
Machine A is directed to boot from B.iso instead of hard drive.
Machine A boots from B.isoIf you figure out a solution please let me know.

Fog 1.2 Vista Single Disk Resizable Issue
Hello,
I am not sure if any one else has run into this issue however I am using a fresh install of Fog 1.2 on Ubuntu 12.04. When I set the Image Type as Single Disk Resizble for my Vista Image with Window Vista as the Operating System.
The Image will successfully upload however when trying to download the download fails with partclone stating that the image is not a partclone image. I have verified this issue is with both 32 and 64 bit windows vista and that when the image is being uploaded it does use partclone.
The system is working with windows 7,8 and 8.1 only vista is having this issue. Also if I select Multiple Partition Image - Single Disk (Not Resizable) the Image upload and download both work.If you need any more information please let me know.
Thank you!

RE: Silly beginners question - Fresh install of an OS from ISO
For a fresh install I would recommend using a sysprep image maintained in a virtual machine.

RE: Fog 1.1.1 VM and PXE
Hello Tom,
Thank you that worked like a charm it even allowed the ICH9 to work correctly. Will using the ipxe.pxe file work for physical machines or do i need to set that back to the undionly.kpxe file when I move to a more physical environment?

Fog 1.1.1 VM and PXE
Hello,
I am currently testing fog 1.1.1 using a virtual environment with virtual box. I have fog setup on Ubuntu 12.04 fresh install and with Windows server 2012 R2 for DHCP and NFS.
Everything is being handled withing a virtual network within virtual box.
First thing I noticed was that if the system Chipset is set to ICH9 the test machine will initialize IPXE however when it gets to the part after
“IPXE 1.0.0+ (7fe0) – Open Source Network Boot Firmware – http://ipxe.org”
The machine will hang on the Configuring step and then reboot and will become stuck in this reboot cycle. After changing the chipset to PIIX3 I was able to get into the fog PXE menu and image the machine however after imaging the machine the machine goes back into the reboot cycle.
Would anyone be able to help with what the issue may be as why the machine goes into this reboot cycle and never reaches the fog pxe menu?
Thank you

RE: Errory deploying images
Hello,
So after changing the sata operation mode from to Raid it seems to be proceeding with the deploy process. I am sorry I did not try this before I just figured that fog would work with IDE or ACHI mode both which i had tried earlier.Thank you both of you for you help with this issue. although I am still confused why raid mode would work while ide does not.

RE: Errory deploying images
I am not sure if this changes anything however I tried the SSD in a different machine that is working and I was able to successfully deploy a image onto that drive.
As far as driver needs I do not know where to get this info if you give me an idea I can let you know.
Thank you for all the help you have provided as of now.

RE: Errory deploying images
Hello Tom,
One more updated. As I was browsing the forums I found the mention of checking your hardware to ensure that it is compatible with Fog and My NIC passes however the hard drive fails. I tried both IDE and ACHI mode for the hard drive and both seem to fail.
Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk is the only hard drive that is the machine. What can I do to possible get this working for this machine? or what other info would you need to better help figure out the issue?
Thank you

RE: Errory deploying images
Hello Tom,
An update for my issue I have another machine that has the same error as above however that machine does go through with the image process and loads the image.
If it helps the image I am currently trying to load is windows 8 x86 which was uploaded as Multiply Partition - All Disks.
Also I forgot to mention I am using Fog .32.If you need any more information please let me know.

RE: Errory deploying images
Hello Tom
I tried the newer kernel and now I have a new message that it hangs on.
“esas2r: driver will not be loaded because no ATT0 esas2r devices were found i2c-parport-ligh: adapter type unspecified”I am getting no other error messages from this now. The machine after hanging at this point for a while will go to the fog stage .
I ran deploy in debug mode and Image4 is what I get after running the fog command.
the machine still does not have an os installed after the machine reboots.Thank you

Errory deploying images
Hello I am trying to set up fog however when I try to deploy an image to one of my machines it does not work. The machine is a custom build and it uses these parts http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2GcEg.
the machine will boot into pxe and then hang (see image 1)
then it will proceed to the point found in Image 2.
after that it will go and act as if it is deploying an image however no image is deployed on the machine.
I have tried a few kernels however none of them have worked.
The machine has been set to legacy boot, secure boot disabled and the hard drive has been set to IDE.
I have no issues with my other machine just this one.Any help would be appraciated
Thank you

RE: Using a NAS for storage
So i was able to use the rename command to rename the image and move it up a directory.
so at this point what could be my issue? -
RE: Using a NAS for storage
I can ftp in however the mv gives me a invalid command.
Also I have checked that thread however I am still unable to get this to work -
RE: Using a NAS for storage
OK so I added a fog user name and gave that user access with ftp. I was able to verify that the user has has permissions with fileZilla however I am still getting the unable to move from the dev folder to the images folder.
Do I have to change anything to get this to work?
I have also verified that if i change the name manually and move it then I can image a machine.
So after I get this part working everything should be good. -
RE: Using a NAS for storage
OK thank you I will give this a try and let you know if this works.

Using a NAS for storage
Hello I am having a slight issue with setting up fog and using a separate Nas as a storage.
Currently my setup is as follows:
Fog is installed on ubuntu 10.4LTS
My NAS is run from Windows Server 2012R2.
I have NFS running and working and fog is able to upload an image to the images/dev folder without an issue.
I then get the error saying that fog is unable to move the image from the dev folder to the images folder.
I have created a FTP server on my server and at the moment I have it set to allow Anonymous Users with read write permissions. I am able to successful use filezilla to connect to the FTP server from my ubuntu machine and make changes with the user ftp and I have created a seperate storage node that has the ftp user for “Management UserName” with the correct username as well.If anyone could help that would be wonderful. If you need more information please let me know and I will be happy to provide you with it.
Also if you have a better way to use the Nas for a storage space please let me know.Thank you
