I found another thread about rEFInd issue on HP and a suggestion was to downgrade rEFInd to 10.9 or 11 version.
I tried both. didn’t help.
BUT, creating bootable USB with 0.11.00 version worked. the very same rEFInd.efi and conf work on USB and dont work on FOG…

RE: HP Elite X2 G4 imaging stuck on rEFInd
Thank you George for quick reply.
So, the issue with BIOS changing I solved. It was the settings in “ROM Launch Policy”. Whenever legacy boot was enabled network boot moved to legacy. Ones i changed “ROM Launch Policy” to UEFI only, the network boot appeared in UEFI menu order. Now PXE boot works without changing back-forward…
The only issue remains and it’s a big one - the boot stuck on “rEFInd - Initializing…” after image deployed.
Here is the scenario.
Schedule image deploy in FOG -> Reboot -> boot from network -> image deployed -> reboot -> stuck on “rEFInd - Initializing…”.
i can’t even restart with CnTr-Alt-Del. only long press on power btn helps.

HP Elite X2 G4 imaging stuck on rEFInd
Hi guys,
i am new to FOG and also not that much of a Linux guy, but need to get it working…INPUTS:
We have in our environment FOG 1.5.8 installed and running.
Base Win 10 Pro image, created and prepared on VM. The image works fine on HP 1070 & 1080 backpack computers.I have an HP Elite X2 G4 tablet that needs to be imaged with Win 10 Pro OS.
Secure boot disabled and Legacy enabled. DMA disabled. The only way i can get any progress with FOG right now is:
- Disable EUFI and boot with legacy to connect FOG and load image.
- Enable EUFI after reboot to boot from HD.
I face 2 issues:
- Want to get it working without re-entering BIOS and switch EUFI-LEGACY and back.
2… (Show stopper) - After reboot and start from HD it stuck on rEFInd.
How can i pass this rEFInd issue?
I tryed to work with FOG 1.5.9.
I tryed to recompile and rebuild iPXE.What else can i try to get it working?
(Again, please, i am not a linux guy, please be patient and if you need some logs or printouts explain how to get them…)
