All right. I got it to work. I had to edit the opt/fog/service/FOGImageReplicator file. There were no database credentials in this file. This file doesn’t want the fog database credentials it wants FOG_STORAGENODE_MYSQLUSER and password. Entering these credentials works!

I setup a new Ubuntu machine today and installed FOG as a storage node and got the same result. Is there an issue with my database? Is there a file somewhere that needs edited/checked? Fog Storage Node "Failed to connect to database server" durring replication
I’m trying to setup a fog storage node for the first time. Using fog .32. I have two ubuntu machines running. One is the main fog server the other is the storage node. I followed the this youtube video. When I run “watch tail fogreplicator.log” from the MAIN FOG server I see the following over and over: “Failed to connect to database server, will try again in next iteration.”

RE: Using Auto Log Out Service Restarts Win7 Machines
No fix yet? I gave up. I’m using group policy and scheduled tasks to shutdown machines after 6pm when there has been x amount of inactivity. It works very well and easy to update. As far as logging the user off I guess that’s their problem if someone walks by their machine while they aren’t sitting at it and decides to change settings, delete files, etc… LOCK YOUR MACHINE WHEN YOUR NOT USING IT PEOPLE!!! I think the only solution to auto logoff users is the old screensaver trick through GP.

RE: Backup Fog mysqldump error
Thanks! That did it.

Backup Fog mysqldump error
I’m using Ubuntu and Fog .32 and trying to use FOGBackup.sh as the root user. When I run this script I get a mysqldump error. What would be the quickest way to resolve this?
Error:
Backingup Mysql Database mysqldump: Got error: 1045: Access denied for user ‘root’@localhost’ (using password:No) when trying to connect. -
Using Auto Log Out Service Restarts Win7 Machines
I know I’ve seen threads on this before, but I’m unable to find any. I would REALLY like to use the Auto Log Out Service in FOG. It works fine for our XP machines but not Win7. Since it’s a global feature I have to turn it off. Fog restarts the Win7 machine while the user is using the computer - full activity! SP1 is installed on all our Win7 machines. I’m running FOG .32. The same thing occured when I was using FOG .29. Green FOG shutdown feature works fine for XP and Win7 machines, but the users have to be logged off for this to work.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

RE: Fog .32 and Win7
Okay, I’m going to assume it’s my image. I will add chkdsk /x to my imaging steps.
Thanks!

RE: Fog .32 and Win7
I agree linux on hyper-v does suck.
Yes, the image files are there and are the correct size. What else do you need to know?
Btw I imaged a different model pc with a diff win7 image successfully this afternoon.
I think it’s odd that two different images for the same pc did not work. The pcs are asus 1000he netbooks. Could it be a network issue? A problem with the switch? We use 100Gb cisco managed switches.

Fog .32 and Win7
I upgraded to Fog .32 from .29 a couple of months ago. XP imaging has worked fine since the upgrade. Yesterday I deployed a Win7 image for the first time since the upgrade. Fog looked like it was imaging okay at first. It would get to 1-5% and then reboot the machine. I tried this on three machines (I imaged these three with the same image file on .29). I thought the file could be corrupt so I tried another win7 image for these machines and had the same results. If I can catch the text fog displays on camera before it reboots I’ll attach an image of it.
My fog server is an Ubuntu 10 machine. It’s a Hyper-V VM.
