    • RE: Dell Optiplex & Fog PXE Connectivity

      @Jim-Holcomb
      Hi Jim
We have 63 Dell Optiplex 7020 micro PCs. Here is our BIOS setup that works for us but the main things that seem to cause issues with FOG is the SATA/NVMe, and Secure boot. Hope this helps

      Under Boot Configuration
Move Onboard NIC (IPV4) to top of list
      UEFI NVMe SSD drive next
      Uncheck the following:
      Windows Boot Manager
      UEFI HTTPs
      Onboard NIC (IPV6)
Scroll down and turn off Secure Boot

      Under Storage
      Change SATA/NVMe Operation to AHCI/NVMe

      Under Connection
Intergraded NIC: Choose Enabled with PXE
Enable UEFI Network Stack: Auto Enabled
      Turn off HTTP(s) Boot Feature

      Under Power
Turn on Block Sleep and Disable Deep Sleep

      Under Security
Scroll all the down to UEFI Boot Path Security
Set to prompt for admin password except for internal HDD&PXE

      Under System Management
Wake on LAN/WLAN: set to LAN with PXE boot

    • Issue when exiting Refind Lubuntu image

If we have network boot enabled but no FOG task to complete. We get the following error when the PC exits out of Refind.
      0258f563-225c-459a-af22-3b361b866c98-image.png
When we “Hit any key” we then get:
      336e63f5-7512-46b4-a53d-6ee90ea44a9e-image.png

If we disable network boot the PC boots fine. I’m thinking the Refind can’t find the efi boot files on Lubuntu but not sure.

Windows works fine as well. Can anyone help as we would like to have network boot enabled so we could remote image a PC if needed.

    • RE: Upgraded to FOG 1.5.10.1629 but now can't capture image

Found a post of someone that was having the same problem but with Hyper-v. They downgraded the Kernel to 6.1.89 to make it work. https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/17663/capture-uefi-image-on-hyper-v-vm/2
Downgrading the Kernel to 6.1.89 also worked for me. None of the newer Kernels (6.6.xx) worked. Will there be a true fix? Downgrading doesn’t seem like a fix to me.

We run Proxmox 8.3.2 if that helps.

    • Upgraded to FOG 1.5.10.1629 but now can't capture image

Upgraded to FOG 1.5.10.1629 but now can’t capture image. The capture process gets stuck at EFI Stub measured. Screenshot 2024-12-23 110309.png

      Any help out there?
