    • RE: Inventory Report is blank, host list contains hundreds of entries with full inventory

Just for a test, I built a new server. I installed Ubuntu 18.04, updated and patched to the latest. I then installed and configured FOG 1.5.7.

I connected a sample laptop I have laying around, PXE booted and performed a quick registration and inventory. The laptop now shows up under Hosts. I can select the new host and click on Inventory and it shows all the information.

When I go to Reports and select Inventory Report, again there is a blank page. No data shows up.

I now firmly believe that either I’m doing something very wrong, or there is a bug in the reports.

    • Retain multicast sessions?

Is it possible to create a multicast session that remains and is always available?

As it is, the session goes away once complete and I need to create a new one on the server in order to image a new batch of computers. It would be amazing if once the session completes successfully it would simply reset and become available again for a fresh batch of computers without touching the server again.

    • RE: Deploy Image results in Invalid MAC Address

Well now, I’m quite the knucklehead. I created the .mntcheck file in the /images/dev directory but I never did for the /images directory.

      It works perfectly now.

Thank you so much for your time with this.

    • RE: Deploy Image results in Invalid MAC Address

The image path could very well be the issue. I did have to tangle with permissions on the mount because I am using a secondary hard drive for the /images directory. I went full on and set chmod 777 on the directories. I changed the ownership as well.

      Here’s the output:

    • Deploy Image results in Invalid MAC Address

      Server
      FOG Version: 1.5.9
OS: Ubuntu Server 20.04 (With GUI)

      Client
Microsoft Surface 7 Pro (using a dock to connect to the network)

      Description
I set up a new FOG server to quick deploy images. These machines will be seen once and never again. A client can successfully PXE boot to the server and I am able to capture the image without issues.

When I attach a new computer (unregistered) and attempt to deploy the image I am presented with the following errors:

      * Checking Mounted File System.................................Failed
      #####################
      # An error has been detected!
      #####################
      Init Version: 20200906
Error during failure notification: Invalid MAC Address! (/bin/fog.download)
         Args passed:

      Kernel variables and settings:
      bzImage loglevel=4 initrd=init.xz root=/dev/ram0 rw ramdisk_size=275000 web=http://192.168.0.1/fog/ consoleblank=0 rootfstype=ext4 shutdown=1 nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 mac= ftp=192.168.0.1 storage ...
      imgFormat=0 mcastrdv=192.168.0.1 capone=1 type=down shutdown=1

(I just typed the error on the client instead of messing with a picture - let me know if you’d rather have a picture)

    • RE: Multicast does not start after quick inventory

Is the udp-sender command built from anything in the host inventory on the server? We also modify the DMI area of the motherboards, e.g. manufacturer, model, serial number, etc… I’m no programmer by any means, but I was thinking if we were putting a character in there that isn’t being parsed correctly (spaces, parenthesis, etc.), could that cause the built udp-sender command to fail? We also don’t name the machines, we just let FOG use the MAC address to name them.

    • RE: Multicast does not start after quick inventory

I was multicasting to a single machine only for testing. I had previously been multicasting to 16 at a time. If any one of the 16 is registered, then the whole multicast session hangs. I usually schedule it manually with session ID, something simple like 1 or a.

This problem seems to be occurring more with certain motherboards, the Asus H310M-E R2.0, and the Asus B360M-C/CSM specifically. I have tried this with HP, Dell, and older Asus boards and there doesn’t seem to be a problem multicasting. I have tried every possible combination of settings in the BIOS of these boards and cannot find any reason why they would not work only after being registered.

    • Multicast does not start after quick inventory

I have several machines fresh built. If I set up a multicast to a fresh built computer without Quick Registration and Inventory, it works perfectly. If I perform Quick Registration and Inventory, I can no longer multicast to that machine - the client just waits forever at the Partclone window. I have tested this on four computers so far and can repeat the failure every time. If I delete the host entry in the database, it still fails. Once the machine is inventoried, it will no longer multicast.

      FOG version 1.5.7
There are no errors or events that I can see in the logs.
FOGMulticastManager is running and udp-sender is running.

I downloaded the updated inventory_report.report.php and now the Inventory Report works properly as far as I can tell. I was able to generate a .CSV file without issue. I will keep testing the report functionality as my inventory builds back up (I started a new database).

Yep. I apologize. The entire page is not blank, just that it doesn’t show any data:
