I’ve got an old FOG server running version 1.2.0 with a 250GB Hard drive. The problem with that was that my colleague used a fixed disk (virtual machine on ESXi) with that so I cannot extend the size anymore. I have just created a new FOG server with the same version and was able to copy all the images from my old FOG to the new FOG using scp method (https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Migrate_images_manually). The next thing I did was to restore my database from my old FOG server and imported it on to the new server, not realizing that my old server has a smaller disk size. Is there any way for me to import the database and maybe manually edit the fog.sql to specify the new hard drive size? Or maybe, is there an easier way for me to do this ?

By the way, my web connection does not display any Images yet on the new FOG server so I will need help in updating that as well. Maybe you can point me in the right direction.

You are correct in saying that this is a virtualized Fog server with just one disk. I also have snapshots running off it at the moment.

I assume you want to expand your disk because the images you have presently on your fog server, you want to keep. I also assume this server is virtualized, since you only have one disk listed in gparted. I’d first recommend snapshotting this server if you’ve not done so. You might think about copying the images directory to somewhere for safety also.

I think you can probably start in that article at the step where they are extending root’s logical volume with all available free space.

Thanks for the reply Wayne. Unfortunately, the Free space that I was trying to extend to was already done by booting to a GParted LiveCD and expanded from there. What I am a little bit confused about is why the OS partition does not recognize the new partition size of 250GB. It still displays the old size of 183GB and I’ve got like 175GB worth of images that I do not want to be removed.

I do not want to reinstall the whole FOG server again, if possible as it took me quite a while to do it and move the images back. Is there a way for me to combine the LV size for my root and swap_1? Is it possible? If yes, how do I do it? Could the swap_1 be the reason why my main disk size is still showing as the old disk size?

My fog server does not seem to get updated or synchronized on its total disk capacity after extending the capacity from 183GB to 250GB using Gparted LiveCD. .Is there anything I can do do get it updated on the Web console or on the Ubuntu’s filesystem as well? I am a noob in the world of Linux-based machines so please bear with me.

Notebook is an HP Elitebook Folio 1040 G2 with 128GB SSD. It is in UEFI mode. The image size is around 17GB. Notebook is laid out as MBR.

below is the screenshot Wayne. I was trying to download the image from my fog to a new notebook so there is definitely an HDD drive on that which is not blank as well.

I actually did try some of the tips suggested on the Fog troubleshooting site but none of them worked for me. Below are some screenshots from my setup and the bootup where it loops on reboot process. The last screenshot just shows database updated then it reboots and the task is automatically removed from Fog without actually downloading the image to the device
