Hi @Zeawiel, welcome to FOG and the forums!

Thank ! It’s good to see a nice community 🙂

Probably best option for you is to leave the LRS untouched for now. I guess you can even leave it online. Setup FOG on a different machine and change your DHCP PXE settings to point the clients to that new server. You can always switch back in case you are not happy with FOG.

That was my plan. I don’t want to break all the stuff now.
I see that FOG works on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. Do you have a preference for the distrib (and version) ?

I know people using FOG on ubuntu. It has some minor issues with mysql breaking sometimes. I use it on debian - works fine. CentOS and Fedora are also fine. Depends on what you prefer, really.

I’m ok with Ubuntu and Debian.
So I’ll run it on Debian if it’s not likely to have issue.

Ps : The forum is really nice to use ! Really smooth !

      Thank you ch3i !
I’ll look deeper into it so ! 😃

Now I have to find a new hardware … the old 256MB ram “server” will die (by me or not !) during the process !

    • General question about FOG

      Hello,

I know that my questions will be dump, but i’m really not into that domain.
      I explain my situation.
I newly manage a room with around 20 PCs. The previous “manager” use the LRS (Linbox Rescue Server) to clone OS and install the image on other PC.
We are using those PC for different purpose and every time we duplicate image from the LRS server.

But … The LRS system is really old (last update 2007 and it doesn’t want W10 clonning …). I’m looking about something to replace it.

Currently, the PCs boot by PXE on the LRS and we can choose to boot from hard drive localy or a list of image that would be clone on the disk if chosen.

      So, my question is :

Can I make the same thing with FOG ?

Again, sorry for the dump question. I see several software which can manage PC but not focused on that “simple” task.

      Regards,
      Zeawiel
