Initial slow load in FOG WEB UI.
-
Hello gents!
I’m on FOG 7819, and so far it has been fantastic. The only thing I’m running into is to load the initial hosts menu, it takes FOR-EV-ER. Like squints in sandlot forever. Once it loads however, the interface is super snappy. I think its probably local to my install, but I’m not sure what to check. Do you guys have any pointers?

First try updating. Second if fog is running dhcp see first or find out if network is using stp.
-
@Tom-Elliott STP as in spanning tree? What effect can that have? I’m pretty sure we are using that in our network.
-
@sarge_212 stp itself is fine but because of the stop forwarding on each link up/down it can slow things quite a lot especially noticeable on ipxe. For ipxe to go faster we typically recommend rapid/port fast if you can enable it.
-
@Tom-Elliott So it’s not the imaging itself its the web UI. Imaging is very quick. I’m only noticing the slowness in the web UI when trying to first load things. After that, it works splendidly.
-
@sarge_212 I thought by hosts menu you were referring to ipxe … Sorry I’m dumb. Update please.
-
@Tom-Elliott hehe, no worries. I’ll try an update and report what turns out. Thanks Tom!
-
@sarge_212 any luck?
-
@Tom-Elliott sorry, haven’ had time yet. Crazy work day and fog got back-burner’d. Will have to next week prolly. Thanks though Tom!

@Tom-Elliott Tom,
How “snappy” should the web UI be? What factors go into that? Obviously reporting back from the host, but what other things?
-
Have you updated and are things working a lot better?
-
@Tom-Elliott not quite yet, taking a lil snapshot atm before doing so and then I’ll update.
-
To put it as simply as I can, optimally speaking the loading of other elements should not have ANY affect on the navigation. This should be corrected for now, but i’m definitely far from perfect.

@Tom-Elliott Updated, on 8217, seems to be faster! W00t!
