A SIMPLE tftp can't connect question... honest!

I get ‘unable to connect to tftp server’…
The password in fog settings for tftp is dc20bb3821315f08172ed0b448e47ee8

I’ve painstakingly set and confirmed by logging in as user fog, that this is the correct password.

Hi,

tftp service do not need a password, so it is not a password problem.
Note that FTP is not TFTP, are 2 different services.

Do you have a tftp service on your machine?
Do you see it with ps?

in my machine I see:

root@foggy:/# ps aux | grep tftp
root 6396 0.0 0.0 7548 856 pts/0 S+ 11:02 0:00 grep tftp
root 12614 0.0 0.0 14632 320 ? Ss May02 0:00 /usr/sbin/in.tftpd --listen --user tftp --address 0.0.0.0:69 --secure /tftpboot

Where do you get the message “unable to connect …”?
If you do from another PC

tftp <your fog server IP> which message do you have?

hi,
i was having the same problem.while uploading an image to server.
doing this resolved the issues
first reset your user password with the “sudo passwd” command.
then go to your config file
/var/www/fog/commons/config.php
and set you tftp password and storage node password to one you changed in the step above.

Thank you both for those answers… the problem as it turned out had to be resolved literally out of the box… as in, I had to use ubuntu 10.4, and it got past the tftp error.

I will keep messing around with the centos 6.2 install and maybe get it eventually, but that install is plagued with problems.

I’d done what you had suggested already, but still got the error. Giammy, I don’t know about the ps results, or tftp to ip. Good questions that I’ll look into asap.

Centos needs many ‘fixes’ before an install (at least as a VM in HyperV). It doesn’t have ethernet on by default, it’s sources know nothing about clamav, php5.3 is difficult to install, and well, it’s just not the one I should have chosen… I did it because it’s supported by HyperV… BUT, turns out you can enable kernel elements existing in 10.4, as it’s the first Ubuntu to use the 2.6.32 kernel that included the Linux IC by MS.

I’ll let you know when I can get back to this… I’d like to have it on Centos, but for now I actually need to USE my Ubuntu 10.4 version and test that out today.
