Partimage: commit buffer cache to disk
-
hi all,
I want to upload ubuntu 13.10 images to fog server but when it starts uploading, it gives this message “partimage: commits buffer cache to disk”, the process tries to create image but the blue screen just ends up within seconds with this error
I am using latest fog version.
My partitions are primary, ext3. As fog has problems with ext4 and logical/extended partitions
My ubuntu 12.04 works fine but its just 13.10 now :S
any suggestion please,…

What do you mean? “I am using latest fog version.” FOG 0.32, FOG 1.0.0 RC?

I’d make a simple request, if at all possible for your environment, and try upgrading to FOG 1.0.0, while it’s in RC at the moment it should be sufficient enough to read your system and is not using Partimage as the imaging medium. It uses Partclone which, from what I can tell, seems to work better in many aspects than partimage does. Partimage got the work done, but if you’re receiving the message from an OS Upgrade, my guess is the issue lies somewhere in there. Maybe Ubuntu 13.10 transitioned the Drive from ext3 to ext4 and partimage can’t get the ext3 cache it thinks it’s looking for?

Hi all,
I had the same problem. I fixed it checking the disk with gparted. No errors were found but the next time the image upload was fine.
Xabi.
